First impressions count and the first thing we noticed when we arrived is there isn't a hotel sign or even a number on the outside of the property? Luckily every home along the road does have a number so it was easy to work out but why wouldn't you have a sign on a business? The next thing we noticed was a notice on the front door saying check out was at 10 am, despite our confirmation stating it was 11am. When we pointed this out we were told emphatically that it was 10 am and that was it. I'd particularly booked this property because it had an 11 o'clock check out as that timed well with our next stop because we don't like to drive around and park our vehicle with all our luggage on show. In fairness, when checking out at 10, we were told we were welcome to sit in the lounge or around the pool etc. The room itself was spacious but another note said that we couldn't use the large corner bath. The lighting in the room is awful, with every light on it was still difficult to see to shave etc. The staff are pleasant enough and everything worked, there's a nice little pool with a few sun loungers. Breakfast was limited to eggs, bacon, mushrooms and toast but no cereal or fruit offerings, which was a first on this trip. Overall it was pleasant enough but with so much choice in the area, we'll choose somewhere...
Read moreWe had a wonderful 5 day stay at 47th on Howard in December. It was a lovely venue with top class facilities, close to the golf course, Leisure Isle and Knysna Heads. The rooms are huge with comfortable beds and crisp white linen and towels. A cooked breakfast with bacon and eggs was served every day (even omelette's). The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Chrissy was the most welcoming host too. We would recommend this lodge to everybody and will definitely return again one day.||Luckily there was no load-shedding while we were there, which would have caused some concern as we were warned about leaving windows open in case baboons entered our rooms and therefore, we had to close our windows at night and leave the air-con on all night. Had there been load-shedding it would have been quite stuffy in the rooms with closed windows and no air-con available. If there had been burglar bars on the windows, the windows could be left open and save the lodge a lot in electricity expense.||Another small suggestion would be to offer cereal and fruit on alternate mornings, as nice as it was to have bacon and eggs every day.||Thank you Chrissy and staff for a memorable...
