Bitou River Lodge — Hotel in George

In March my husband & I had the pleasure of staying at Bitou River Lodge. A newly renovated luxury farmhouse-style lodge situated on the banks of the Bitou River in Plettenberg Bay, and what an incredible experience it was!

Upon arrival, I was immediately captivated by the beautiful gardens, lawns and the sounds of nature that enveloped the property. The lemon trees heavy with ripe, juicy lemons, as well as the presence of healthy and happy farm animals such as horse, sheep, and a family of blue cranes, added to the picturesque charm of the setting. The owners love of art is clearly evident from the impressive garden sculpture showcased amongst the greenery at the entrance, objects, and oversized paintings displayed throughout the lodge.

The late afternoon feed with the owner, Kerry, and her nephew Liam was a delightful and memorable experience that truly immersed me in the tranquility of rural farm living.

The culinary experience at the lodge was nothing short of exceptional. The food served was out of this world, exquisitely presented, and bursting with flavour. Manny, was wonderful to interact with and always went above and beyond to ensure all our needs were met.

Our bedroom was a haven of comfort and style. It was immaculate. Beautifully styled and equipped with the most comfortable bed, luxurious crisp linen, TV, WiFi, delicious coffees and all the amenities required for a relaxing and luxurious stay. The magnificent large artwork adorning the wall in our room added to the room's luxury feel and ambiance. Waking up to a sumptuous full farmhouse breakfast in the morning was the perfect start to a day of exploration by a walk on the beach. One can also canoe down the river from the lodge or relax at the pool.

Kerry and Clint Penny, the owners & hosts of the lodge, were outstanding in their hospitality and attention to detail. Their warm and welcoming demeanor made us feel right at home, and their dedication to providing a top-notch guest experience was truly commendable.

I can highly recommend Bitou River Lodge to anyone seeking a rejuvenating and relaxing farm retreat in the heart of nature.. Definitely a little piece of paradise in Plettenberg...

Bitou River Lodge is a serene oasis nestled alongside the tranquil Bitou River. From the moment you arrive, you're greeted by the picturesque beauty of the surrounding landscape. The garden, meticulously cared for by the owner, reflects her passion for gardening, adding a delightful touch to the property.

The hosts are exceptionally warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the start. Their genuine hospitality shines through in every interaction, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Emanuel, our gracious host, treated us to hearty breakfasts each morning, prepared with care and attention to detail. It's evident that the owners pour their hearts into every aspect of the lodge, creating an atmosphere of warmth and authenticity.

As we departed, we couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the wonderful experience and a twinge of sadness at leaving. We wish the owners all the best for the continued success and growth of Bitou River Lodge. Without a doubt, we'll be returning for a longer stay in the future.

Our Bitou ❤️ We had our very first holiday as a couple with you, and you’ve been a special part of our journey since then! I will never forget the moment dearest Sue came walking over to our breakfast table with a plate full of roses and my engagement ring. Each stay with you is just as amazing as the one before, filled with Sue’s incredible breakfasts, picnics by the river and long naps in the hammock. Today we left with heavy hearts knowing it will be our last stay for a while whilst we start our next journey with baby on the way. But we will be back! Thank you for all the incredible stays, we have been so blessed to have spent time in your paradise! For a luxury stay in an idillic location with incredible breakfast and surrounded by the sound of the birds and the smell of nature, a Bitou stay is a must! The lodge is situated barely 5 mins from Plettenberg Bay central with all the shops and restaurants for the city folk and is so close to all the activities any outdoorsy/sporty/nature person could dream...
