We booked two cottages, one for ourselves and one for our three adult children 26/22/19. My husband was unaware of the remoteness before he booked the property. Two to three nights would be bliss...more was unbearable. The accommodation was good and very comfortable albeit the drive (even on a 4X4) is heavy on your back if you have an existing back condition being 21km of dirt road of which 30% was very, very stony terrain and 5 gates to open and close as you go along.||We had an issue with the geyser in cottage number 1 but after checking the first time the host never came back to ask if everything was OK. They say we should have asked them!||Some cottages (probably 2, 3 and the cottage next to ours maybe 4A ) had a washing machine but ours did not. No pegs either. To be honest I dreaded leaving the property for the harrowing trip to and from the closest town which was Uniondale. Lots of rules all over the place. More than usual compared to other establishments we have stayed at giving one a feeling of being unwelcome and a...

Reason was that cottage 2 was filthy, had huge spiders and is very old-school so part of the family refused to stay there. The latter one can handle but not the dirty cutlery, shower, beds, etc. For the price one pays, you would expect to at least have dstv and wifi available. Yes, it is a place to unwind but these two have become part of unwinding. The walk to the waterfall was ok but a bit disappointing that the water was not flowing very strongly at the waterfall. Not the owner's fault though so I am not taking that into account with my rating. Nonetheless, good for some exercise and to kill some time. We didn't see any activities for the kids on the farm or were not informed of where/when they can get to interact with the animals as advertised on website. Invest some money and time in this place and its management and it could...
Read moreThis mountain retreat is 23km down a gravel road and approx. 30 km from Uniondale. Make sure you take enough food for your stay.||We had cottage no 1 which is very cute with a lovely veranda for drinks and the braai.||Beverley and Bernd are very friendly and made sure we were comfortable. ||The walk on the farm is very beautiful with glorious views and stunning proteas.||We stayed for 2 nights and this is enough unless you really just want to laze around.||It's a very interesting farm stay if you are happy to drive the gravel road.||Recommended for a...
