We had our family of 17 stay at Fernhill Guest farm occupying 3 cottages and 1 tent over the New Years period.||||Positives:||- Farm life providing complete freedom for kids to run around in a safe environment and be involved with farm animals.||- Our tent was perfectly located in amongst the trees/nature.||- Central communal braai area for larger groups.||- Once you are there you can enjoy the surroundings with no need to go anywhere else, park your car and relax.||- Comfortable beds with quality linen.||- Free/ fresh milk.||- Delicious home made ice creams available to purchase.||- Not far from popular beaches.||||Negatives:||- No drinking water provided and no warning on website about this.||- Bad quality towels||- Lack of communication with guests and ability to handle situations in a professional manner regarding our New Year celebration resulting in our evening ending on a bad note just after midnight.||- Refrigerator space minimal.||- Hot water kept switching off.||- No hot water for the outside sinks to wash dishes||- Walking routes poorly marked.||- A family tent to accommodate 4 was promised to us when we booked but closer to the time when asked about it we were informed they hadn't got around to building it.||- No lighting around pathways/boardwalks to tents. Solar lights would be ideal for these so you don't fall off the boardwalk trying to get to your tent.||||Loads of potential to be an awesome experience if certain hospitality details are focused on. Small things like replacing the candles between the changing over of guests and offering new towels should guests stay for longer than 3 days as an example.||||Kids had...

We had our family of 17 stay at Fernhill Guest farm occupying 3 cottages and 1 tent over the New Years period.

Positives: Farm life providing complete freedom for kids to run around in a safe environment and be involved with farm animals. Our tent was perfectly located in amongst the trees/nature. Central communal braai area for larger groups. Once you are there you can enjoy the surroundings with no need to go anywhere else, park your car and relax. Comfortable beds with quality linen. Free/ fresh milk. Delicious home made ice creams available to purchase. Not far from popular beaches.

Negatives: No drinking water provided and no warning on website about this. Bad quality towels Lack of communication with guests and ability to handle situations in a professional manner regarding our New Year celebration resulting in our evening ending on a bad note just after midnight. Refrigerator space minimal. Hot water kept switching off. No hot water for the outside sinks to wash dishes Walking routes poorly marked. A family tent to accommodate 4 was promised to us when we booked but closer to the time when asked about it we were informed they hadn't got around to building it. No lighting around pathways/boardwalks to tents. Solar lights would be ideal for these so you don't fall off the boardwalk trying to get to your tent.

Loads of potential to be an awesome experience if certain hospitality details are focused on. Small things like replacing the candles between the changing over of guests and offering new towels should guests stay for longer than 3 days as an example.

As soon as we arrived at Fernhill Guest Farm we were greeted with genuine warmth by our hostess who is also the owner. We were given directions to our forest tent after we watched Emma milk the cows old fashioned style (by hand). Out son got a chance to feed the chickens and Pixie their resident hand-raised pig.||||After finding the tented tree house at the end of a dusty road a small paradise opened its doors, when we got there. ||||On the super comfortable king size bed we found a packet of the most amazing freshly baked brownies along with a welcome note. The main bedroom is upstairs and has an en-suite bathroom with a spa bath that overlooks the forest. ||||Downstairs you will find a small kitchenette equipped with all the basics and bunk beds. ||||Soon after unpacking, our hostess arrived with a bottel of fresh farm milk.||They also make the most delicious home-made ice cream which you can order then they deliver it to your door. ||||Sitting outside on the top deck drinking coffee and playing cards with the sounds of the Knysna Loerie in your ears, and waking up to the sound of the Piet-my-vrou every morning was an absolute treat! ||||We were spoilt with wrap-around views of the forest. Without a TV and at times poor mobile signal, our family got to reconnect, recharge and rediscover ourselves and each other. ||||An amazing memorable experience. We will definitely go back! Absolute value for money!||||Love, the...

This is such a gem! The farm is so lovely. All the animals are very friendly and it’s so nice to be able to participate in the milking of the cows, feeding of the chickens, petting the mini pig. All animals are treated with respect. The accommodation was very clean and had everything you need for a nice vacation. We especially loved the cottage and the view of the donkeys! The tent treehouses give a full „glamping“ feeling since they are so close to the nature. If you’re the less adventurous type, I‘d recommend the cottage :) The people working there are very friendly too. Mia is such a nice woman, always available on WhatsApp and very helpful. They explained everything in detail to us and showed us around. We felt very welcomed. Last but not least I want to mention the delicious products they sell. The brownie was out of this world, the icecream is very yum too and the fresh milk, butter, yoghurt and eggs completed our breakfast. We‘ve never seen butter with such an intense colour before. Wow! We‘d highly recommend this place. It’s not only nice for families, but also for couples. A great getaway! I would rate this 10/10.

We booked at Fernhill Treehouse for a few nights in April 2023. We ended up staying one night and then leaving to get other accommodations, largely bc of the musty tent smell. Pros + lovely location on a farm amidst the trees, once you drive out of the treehouses you can see the mountains with lovely sunsets + working farm with trails - seemed lovely! + great communication from hosts over whatsapp up to a point (when we did ask for a refund for any nights that they were able to book of our reservation, they stopped replying) + bed is comfortable + lovely deck! Cons - very musty smelling tent - this was our third camping/glamping experience while traveling in South Africa and Fernhill was the only stay that had such an unpleasant smell. The tents are permanent structures. This location is closer to the ocean, compared to the other camping we did. We smelled it the moment we walked in, when we fell asleep and when we woke up. - the carpet, fixtures and furniture all showed significant wear. the bathroom carpet had lots of staining.

Initail meeting owner was quite frustrated because i did not check a message send ( i were driving ) then showing me the place was a more friendly approach that was quite comforting. I found that direction to park at tented camp is not so clear and think, some signs can elude that confusion. Tent was nicely decorated with a good bed and clean linnen with all the amodities one need for staying there. The jacuzzi bath was relaxing. I must say as I were told it's a quiet place that my music was too loud I put it softer just to receive and additional WhatsApp it's still too loud and I were actually then watching things on laptop very softly, To be woken by chickens and dogs barking that is also loud. (So it is indeed not such a quiet place after all) I would refer this place to very quiet people whom want to enjoy nature, like chickens and dogs and cats and the best the bird life. Overall the experience was ok.
