An excellent place for peace and quiet. The property is an operating aloe farm, but includes sheep, goats and cattle that freely roam around during the day. The guest house has the perfect balance between nature and technology with well furnished rooms and WiFi. It also is a splash pool next to a thatched wooden deck that extends from the guest house veranda. The deck overlooks the Gourits River and a considerable sized island opposite. The Northern view provides the sights and sounds of the Booted Eagle that live and hunt Dassies in the sandrock cliffs above the Vals River where it integrates into the Gourits River. For those who wish to camp in a pleasant surround of nature, a number of well positioned flat grassed areas have been built that look onto the cliffs and over the Vals River. A perfect spot for fishing and swimming. The hosts, Koosie and Ryna are excellent in making one feel at home away from home. Everything is possible with them and they focus on the guests wants and wishes. All of these wonderful experiences in a place of pure peace and...
Read moreWe had the most wonderful experience at Gourits River Farm from December 29 to January 1. From the moment we arrived, Koos and Rene made us feel right at home. Their warmth and attention to detail truly set this place apart.
Camping next to the river was an absolute dream. The setting is peaceful and beautiful, and the sound of the water flowing nearby was incredibly relaxing. The ablution facilities were top-notch—clean, well-maintained, and always stocked with piping hot water, making showering and washing up a pleasure. I would rate them a solid 10 out of 10!
One of the highlights of our stay was the food. The eggs served were a total treat—honestly, the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had. And don’t even get me started on the fish—simply amazing! It was such a thoughtful touch and added so much to our experience.
We can’t recommend Gourits River Farm enough. The combination of stunning nature, fantastic facilities, and the unbeatable hospitality of Koos and Rayna makes it a must-visit. We will absolutely be back!

The most amazing part of staying there was that at night there are very few lights on (only when someone goes to shower/toilet and from other campsites), but after a while there were no lights on at all, which means that watching the stars is absolutely AMAZING!!!!!! It's not often you find yourself in an area with no light and a sky so amazing!
Head torches were fine in the evening, not need for big gas lamps etc. Rather enjoy light from the fire and the quiet, calm evenings.
Hosts were excellent. Got ice from them which helped...
