As a Tourist guide WC9779, it was our very first stay at this quaint, authentic, smart accommodation with a rich history of Mosselbay. The reception was friendly, genuine with the warmest hospitality from staff, very helpful with all our questions. The receptionist Pat-lee-Ann came to assist with the TV in our room & was prepared to offer us an alternative room if we not happy. The sea view from our window was just awesome, the fresh breeze welcomed us each morning into a new day. This place is Not "dodge" as per other reviews which we read prior to our booking, it is strait to the point as described, therefore I would certainly recommend other Tour operators / Tourist guides to have a site inspection. The breakfast we will recommend as it gives you an African vibe as the meals are all prepared on open fires like our traditional "braai" no electricity are needed, its environmentally friendly, its a standard buffet. It's 5-7 min to the Casino or Shopping Malls. Last but not the least, a huge thank you to cooks & the friendly lady Ruzell at the front desk that has assisted us with our minor needs & the departure was emotional, she just wanted to make sure that memories are made & it is edged in our minds indelible. Since my last post, today I am deeply saddened by the fact that you are ensured that you can cancel with no additional cost, BUT believe you me if you try to cancel than they you to "Timba To" telephone calls, emails numerous calls & more no LUCK. The app doesn't help neither as they keep referring you ai with NO JOY. I challenge any one try NOT to cancel as it's a dead...
Β Β Β Read moreWe are used to stay over at Portao Diaz Hotel for years now, because it's safe, our car is parked behind gates, it's near the shops, the casino and the sea. The treatment at the hotel is always very professional and the cleanliness makes you want to stay longer. We can come in at any time of the day or night, because when we come to Mossel Bay it is always to visit our family in George and Groot Brak River that we haven't seen in a long time. That is why we came in at late nights after a braai or proper visit, because there are so many places (Family houses) to go to in Groot Brak River.||||We had an experience the previous time where they misplace our key, and we had to wait nearly an hour the night to get into our room to go sleep. The following morning while we were getting ready to leave, the receptionist phone the room to tell us that it's time to leave the room. I was very upset and confronted them when I came at reception, but it was soon sorted out when Silvia came in and apologies to us about the key and offers us a free breakfast for when we come again to stay over. Which we take her on now when we were there. They gave us a very nice breakfast and the staff was very friendly and from great help when I told them that I can't eat eggs, so they don't have to make me some.||When my next visit to Mossel Bay is dew, I will definitely stay over at Portao Diaz Hotel Again. Regards....
Β Β Β Read moreThe whole experience was something else. I had not made a booking as I was on business and not anticipating to stay over night. When I got to the front desk, the person was abit uprupt (they had no pictures and I asked to see the room and it seemed I was being unreasonable). It had said on the site that rooms were R417, they are actually R495 (breakfast am additional R75). The room was clean but the bathroom vent made a horrible wracket. There is no bedroom manual or instructions on how to play the TV. I asked reception and only found out that chanel 100 plays. For a night only and sleep its a moderate option. For leisure however I woklenr recommend it. The towels had also lost that whiteness. Eventually the staff was friendly though. It has a sort of bar/betting place that serves alcohol and food, you'll have to drive 10 km and even then the options aren't appetising. Again it was not a planned trip so perhaps a curated trip...
