First of all, I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Arina, the owner of Indalu Game Reserve for allowing my wife Annerine and me to make an impromptu booking, literally an hour before we did the walk with the elephants activity at their beautiful and picturesque game reserve!

Rohan, our guide was just as friendly and knowledgeable about the wildlife on the reserve. He made us feel special and welcome right from the very start. As we set out for our adventure with the elephants, we were treated to a whole range of wildlife from Buffalo, to Rooibok, Springbok, Zebras, Eland, Giraffe, and off course, our hiking partners, the two male elephants. One 19 years of age, and the other 28 years of age. I can only remember the name of my elephant. The name of my elephant was Moketsi and the name of Annerine's elephant was Bakari. What majestic animals. Moketsi was the older of the two elephants and a bit larger than Bakari.

Our guides also were very knowledgeable about Moketsi and Bokari and told us a lot of facts that we didn't know about these beautiful creatures. After about a kilometre hike, walking side-by-side with our elephants, and stopping along the way for some pictures, we arrived at and open plain where we were given the opportunity to interact with our elephants by feeding them some fresh vegetables.

All I can say is that the experience is truly amazing and life-changing. We city folk never really get to appreciate the majesty of God's creation until we get the rare opportunity to interact with some of the most powerful and biggest animals in His kingdom!

Thank you, Rohan. You made the day one that we will always remember, and one that we will invite some of our closest friends to come and experience with us. But next time we would like to stay over in the secluded lodges to add to an already unforgettable experience!

Fond regards,

Ryno &...

We were starting our South Africa cruise with a stop at Mossel Bay. We found a private tour operator that agreed to bring us to Indalu Game Reserve. What a fabulous tour it was. In the first part, we did the walk with the Elephants. Our driver-guide, Hanro was exceptional. Despite his young age (he is the son of the owner), he knows every square inches of the reserve. He is very polite and also very funny. I've done over 1000 shore excursions during my cruises. I have ranked that one in the top 5 of them. Not often you have the opportunity to be up close with the animals, especially in their own environment. Each of us had the chance to pet them, walk with them and most importantly, feed them. Wow Wow and again Wow. They are not in a cage and the size of the reserve gives them all the freedom they need. For the second part, Hanro drove us in another part of the game reserve. He knew where to go to see the animals. We can't comment about the accomodation as we did not stay there. In conclusion, anyone planning a visit to South Africa, whether you are driving, sailing or taking tours, make sure you include a visit to the Indalu Game Reserve. Truly unforgettable. Big thanks to Hanro and the entire...

Best Safari experience at Indalu - worth every penny!

We were welcomed really friendly by Arina and offered to let our son sleep a bit longer in the car - the team would be happy to wait before departing to ensure he has a good time and won't be too tired (as we were a small group this was feasible). During the wait we already got a bunch of information on the reserve, which was bought in 2008 and soon after opened its doors to the public.

Soon Rohan, one of the 2 sons, picked us up in a Safari Jeep and brought us to see plenty of animals in their natural habitat: Elephants, giraffes, ostrich, rhinos with a 2 month old rhino baby 🦏, impalas and many other animals from the "bocks" family. It was great fun sitting in front of the Jeep on an extra seat and being right in nature. The Elephant feeding was relaxed and fun mixed with some interesting facts.

After a small Picknick we finished the safari with a beautiful sunset (even though we hadn't even booked the sunset tour in particular) and everyone on the tour was really happy with all the impressions and experiences. Thanks Indalu Family for making this experience so authentic, gentle with the animals, non-intrusive and enjoyable...
