La Lani Guesthouse — Hotel in George

We as a family were on tour during December 2016 and January 2017. Our bookings were fully paid and confirmed in October 2016.||||On arrival at Lalani B&B the afternoon of 23 December 2016, the owner said she had no bookings and are expecting her family on 24 December 2016 for Christmas. I showed her my booking and payment on which she offered us a family unit, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and lounge, a beautiful unit, however the rooms are very small with no dressing table, had to do my hair and make up at the dinner table. The feeling I got was that we were an inconvenience for her as she had already prepared the units for her family.||||She also offered us to give us our money back and look for alternative accommodation, which we declined because of the trouble to find alternative accommodation at 15h00 on a December holiday!||||She admitted to the agency that did the bookings that she forgot about our stay because it was done so long in advance||||One place I will definitely not...

We stayed at Lalani for two nights. It's a three minute drive out of Riversdale on a quiet smallholding. The garden is beautiful and the bird life plentiful. We had Room 1 which has a French doors facing the garden and is accessible without having to walk through the main house. There are tables and chairs on the patio to sit and enjoy the garden views. The room was equipped with full package DSTV, a bar fridge, tea/coffee facilities and microwave. The bed was comfy and the bedding crisp and clean. Suzette's breakfast was delicious and I can highly recommend her homemade fruit salad. Can't fault...

Perfect place for a true countryside experience. Located on a working farm, one of the unique features is the MOO-larm that wakes you around 7 (cows gathering outside the bedroom window). Awesome views over the surrounding mountains and farmlands, but the best views are the stars in the evening. Close to town, theoretically walking distance, but farm enough for peace and quite.
