The Lily Pond Country Lodge is beautifully located in the middle of nature. The welcome upon our arrival was very warm, the staff and the owners have introduced themselves by name and we had the feeling to be welcome from the beginning. The hotel as well as the rooms are very lovingly designed. In the hotel's own restaurant, a 4-course menu is offered in the evening, for which one can make a reservation in the morning. We used this once during our stay - the dinner and the service were excellent and the price, which was a bit high for South African standards, was reasonable. On the other days we ate outside, twice at a wine estate and once in Plettenberg Bay. With a car you are very flexible and the lodge is a central and well located starting point for national parks or hikes. Breakfast at the lodge is very good, egg dishes are prepared on order. We would like to point out the great service. Regarding our planned excursions and activities, we were advised very kindly. A great place to feel good and relax by the pool and at the same time centrally located for all activities in the area. We would definitely...
Read moreDo you love peace and nature? Then turn onto the R102, 20 km east of Plettenberg and a little paradise awaits you. A tranquil garden around a pond is far away from the crowd. And if you follow the road down the slopes to the sea you’ll find the awesome Natures Valley's Beach and lagoon. After you have passed through the automatic gate, you will be personally welcomed and accompanied to your accommodation. The comfortable rooms and bungalows are all on the ground floor and offer a relaxing view of the small pond and have a lovely private seating area or terrace. Comfort is provided by a large shower and air conditioning. The pool is unfortunately a bit small but the loungers around it invite you to relax. Dinner is the highlight of the day when a selection of excellent menus is served. Breakfast is served in a separate open veranda-like area with a small buffet and egg dishes prepared to order. My summary: A hidden hideaway for...
Read moreJust spent three wonderful days at the Lily Pond. What stands out is the excellent hospitality by the Dutch owners Margret and Niels (who also live on the premises and are very much involved in running the place) and their management and staff. They are all in tune with your needs and what activities would suit you and are happy to give you tips for nice outings. We did a beautiful beach walk at Nature’s Reserve, the 5 km hike at Robberg and had a little lunch and shopping stroll at Old Nick’s. The only drawback might be that other restaurants are rather far away but luckily there is a good restaurant at the Lily Pond. Appetizers and drinks beforehand with cocktails made by the cocktail master Roshwill and his assistent Leonardo, with a wonderful view of the lily pond. Look out for their...
