There's a reason this establishment has a 4.8 star review average after over 100 clients have commented. They simply deliver what their website promises & then more!
The owners are professional, inviting, thorough, knowledgeable & friendly and manage to do this without pushing in on your space.
Me & my family stayed in Tree Frog and had a truly relaxing experience made all the more so when my wife realized she had forgot her coffee plunger (If you know my wife & her coffee you would understand the potential negative affects) just to be informed on arriving there was one provided. The cabin looks like the pictures so we did not walk in expecting a certain size unit just to be met with disappointment. It was kitted with every utensil & goody you may just forget. It was super clean & well kept despite its age and smelled great between the linen & wood structure - Not old or mouldy or such.
Being winter the indoor fire place took us back to the comforts of home & we were even provided with fire lighters, fire starters and some wood on day one.
The children loved the upstairs loft section & we loved the fact we could see them at all times and call at a whistle.
A great plus was the forest hike - tranquil & beautiful, the play ground area - Much fun and laugher with really original wooden type structures. We never used the pool but given its size and shape I'm sure its a hit in summer.
I really appreciated the fact that the owners have visited the various establishments & sanctuaries in the area and given there comments and links to the places on their website. Saves searching back & forth. WIFI is free which is a plus given the fact that the cell phone reception is missing or weak on certain sections of the property.
When buying property the wise man knows its all about location, location, location and this property has done just that. Right in the forest, yet close to the N2; petrol stations & eateries in either direction; Wild life sanctuaries round the corner - be it birds, monkeys, snakes, donkey, the big cats etc.; Natures valley is not 30mins away, storms river mouth a little further in one direction and Robberg, whale, seal & dolphin cruises in the other.
Overall a great 4 nights with many wonderful memories made with much learn't at the animal sanctuaries.
Will definitely return in the...
Read moreWe had the luxury of staying at this idyllic gem in The Crags, and it surpassed anything we could have imagined! We stayed in both Treefrog Forest Cabin as well as the Butterfly Cottage; each had it's own unique style and charm, and the experience of both was simply out of this world.
Treefrog is nestled amidst the beautiful forest, providing picturesque vistas of the valley below, and is encapsulated with the song of birds, including the elusive Knysna Loerie, which paid us an unexpected visit! It was truly special! The cabin is tastefully decorated in soothing colors of the forest, with an inviting fireplace and fully equipped kitchen. Even the bathroom windows pay homage to it's name sake, the Treefrog! It is a magical forest haven!
Where Treefrog is mystical and magical, Butterfly is contemporary with an eclectic Bohemian vibe. From the Gaudí-inspired elements of the shower, unlike anything we have seen before, to the stylish outdoor entertaining area, Butterfly whispers modern, rustic comfort. The mountain views from the patio, make it truly special.
The highlight of our stay was definitely the newly built sauna!! With a beautiful deck overlooking a dam and the mountains in the distance, this has to be the most valuable addition to the property! It adds such appeal and ambience to an already stunning place, especially when it is lit up against the backdrop of the night sky!
Our host Carol was so friendly and welcoming, and went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. We can highly recommend Moonshine On Whiskey Creek. This is truly a hidden gem in the heart of The Crags, and it was a very special place for us to spend time reconnecting with nature and unwinding from the hustle and bustle of city life. We will most definitely be back again for another visit...
Read moreIf you are wanting to stay somewhere in The Crags, look no further! Moon Shine is an absolute slice of heaven. It's perfectly located, nestled among SO many incredible things to do. Hiking, exploring, animal sanctuaries, nature reserves, wine farms, restaurants, etc. And at the same time, if you want to do nothing at all and just relax in the beautiful surroundings, it is also perfect. Albert and Sue are brilliant hosts. You can see how much love and care has gone into the beautiful space they have created at Moon Shine. We stayed in Bushpig (highly recommend), the cabin was spotless when we arrived, and everything we could have needed was there. It was such an easeful and beautiful few days at Moon Shine, I am already planning a return when my family are next visiting from the UK as I know they will also love it. A very big thank you to Sue and Albert for creating such a beautiful place, and sharing...
