We had a lovely time at Oakhurst. So much to do for everyone and really close to various activities. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. The accommodation is comfortable and well equipped and the breakfast baskets are wonderful. The walks are gorgeous, the swings are most entertaining, and we even saw a little bushbuck walk right past our cottage. It was lovely! The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because of the showers. Firstly both of the cottages we stayed at (including the forge) only had showers, which made it a bit difficult with a small child. No problem if you only come for a weekend or if you can swim, but we stayed with for a week in winter, so “getting clean” became mandatory! The shower heads are also very small and old fashioned. They leave a gap in the middle of the spray the size of a dinner plate, spraying water everywhere except where it is needed. We eventually took off the shower heads and then had a much better shower experience :-) All in all, I would totally recommend Oakhurst. The showers are a small blip on an otherwise perfect experience....
Read moreWe were fortunate to enjoy a one-week stay at Oakhurst recently, and managed to book the newest cottage, known as Izak's Eden. What a lovely spot! The two-bedroom cottage is large and comfortable, with both a front and back porch. The kitchen is small but well-equipped, and the two bathrooms made it easy for our group of three to co-exist. The main bedroom is a joy, and the location of the cottage makes it super secluded without being too far removed.||||The rest of the Oakhurst experience was on standard with our previous visits. Friendly people, good facilities and plenty to do on the farm. The farm shop is well-stocked, and nothing is ever a problem for Wilna and her colleagues. In the end, we just enjoyed the tranquility offered by this stunning location, taking leisurely walks on the grounds, or playing with a frisbee in the big field near Reception. ||||This is a world-class destination, and the addition of a wood-fired hot tub just adds a touch of decadence. Will we be...
Read moreOne thing Location Wise Gorgeous but apart from lots of rain and a very muddy slippery road it can be forgiven! As a wedding venue and cottages it is way over priced for what you get. Entrances to cottages are dangerous and slippery esp for older ppl! Quite dark at night, lights are not sufficient! Cottages looks nothing like online and bathrooms has a dirty feel to it! Floors are slippery esp if walking with socks, nearly fell twice barefoot! For woman there is no place comfortable to het ready and do hair and make up, one mirror so high you can barley use it with limited space between wall and bed! Two rooms are connected witch means people have no privacy and have to walk trough to get to the bathroom! Makes sleeping difficult!
Im sure for a chilled weekend this ont matter but seeing i was there for a wedding and had to stay with 5 other adults it was a schedule nightmare to get...
