Penelope Self catering Unit — Hotel in George

I booked a very last-minute trip to Wilderness to support my son on his first school hockey tour, and needed pet-friendly accommodation that would allow me to bring my large bullmastiff along. Penelope’s was an absolute gem!

The unit was not only affordable and conveniently located close to where I needed to be, but also warmly welcoming — both to me and my dog. The hostess was outstanding: incredibly kind, accommodating, and went above and beyond by even looking after my dog when I had a full day at the school.

The space itself was exactly what I needed — cosy, clean, and equipped with all the essentials, including a fantastic shower and the wonderful surprise of an electric blanket (a total treat during cooler weather!).

To top it all off, the hostess was patient and helpful when I accidentally locked myself in, thinking I had left my keys in the car. Her calm and friendly response made what could’ve been a stressful situation feel like no big deal.

The apartment is truly lovely—it's spacious, beautifully furnished, and exceptionally well-equipped with everything we needed. It immediately felt like a home away from home.

The location is superb, being close to a wide variety of fun places and local attractions, making it easy to explore the area. The staff were also incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the check-in and overall experience a real pleasure.
