Wow!

My wife surprised me with a midweek getaway, initially 1 day but we extended to 2 days we loved it so much.

I felt so loved and appreciated.

My wife and I stayed in a beautifully decorated room called hope. Then there was faith and love on either side. The names made me smile.

We have done special trips away from our home town over our 16 years of marriage, but I can honestly say this was one of the most cherished.

No meal was anything short of exceptional. Our chef clearly has a passion for food and it shows in the presentation, attention to detail and exquisite tastes. Whenever he came to our table, his beaming smile made me love being in Africa.

The hosts were friendly and courteous, the rooms well sized, clean with fine cotton linen and a wooden fireplace to keep snuggly and warm.

What did make my wife and I chuckle on our hike was the signboard pointing to the trout dam (the bass dam was the other direction) said 30m away, we walked in the direction of the “trout dam” but after 400m or so we concluded maybe one of the numbers or letters had fallen off the signboard. We never did find the trout dam but we did have a testing hike. I could be fitter than I currently am.

All in all, Flitwick Ranch will go down as our best solo (husband and wife) trip in our 16 years.

We have talked about returning with our 3 children as they would love it too.

My son is what I would call a kitchen maestro and I think they could learn some tricks from one another.

All my thanks and respect to the entire team at Flitwick Ranch. I hope your business thrives, you certainly deserve...

I had the pleasure of spending two nights at Flitwick Ranch and it was truly a memorable getaway. Nestled on a working cattle and horse farm near the Southern Drakensberg Mountains, Flitwick offers a peaceful and scenic retreat that feels like a world away.||The accommodation is uniquely charming – beautifully furnished with great attention to comfort, from plush bedding to luxurious linen. I felt instantly relaxed and totally safe walking through the farm, surrounded by horses and the gentle sounds of nature. The presence of roaming farm animals adds a truly authentic feel to the experience.||One of the most calming moments was the quiet of the night – no traffic, no city sounds – just the gentle chorus of frogs in the distance. It’s the kind of stillness that helps you truly switch off.||There’s plenty to do at Flitwick – from walking the numerous scenic hiking trails to horse riding, canoeing on the dam, or casting a line for some peaceful fishing. The Silver Oak Restaurant served up delicious meals, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented by the friendly staff.||What stood out most, however, was the warmth and hospitality. The owner and team – Katie, Jurie, and Irene – were incredibly welcoming and took the time to sit in the sun and share their story with me. The staff as a whole were friendly, attentive, and made me feel right at home.||If you're looking for tranquillity, heartfelt service, and a genuine farm stay experience with plenty of the great outdoors, I can’t recommend Flitwick Ranch...

I rarely find myself compelled to share my opinions publicly, but in this instance, I consider it a moral obligation. After more than four decades of traversing the globe, including South Africa, I discovered a gem along the Drakensberg road – the Flitwick Ranch. It's a slice of paradise, a realm out of a fairy tale, an enchanting sanctuary that captivates the souls of those who take the time to appreciate its splendor – a haven for romantics, poets, and wanderers alike. It's not just a stop; it's a destination in itself.

Whether you arrive solo, with a partner, or alongside your family, the experience is nothing short of mesmerizing. Children will be spellbound, and it's a place where one can contemplate life's wonders. However, I urge you to visit soon before prices ascend. Embrace nature's embrace at this seemingly remote locale, yet equipped with every comfort imaginable, overseen by charming hosts, offering cuisine of the highest quality. The value offered is unparalleled, an exceptional blend of luxury and affordability. This eco lodge, ahead of its time, harnesses the sun for electricity and draws pure spring water for quenching your thirst. The service provided is beyond reproach.

Heartfelt gratitude goes to Marié, Jurie, Chantelle, and their remarkable teams for extending such a warm welcome during my stay. I yearn to introduce this haven to my children, grandchildren, and friends, eager for them to revel in its beauty and...

From time of booking until departure Jurie and Marie have been extremely amazing from every point of view, lovely drive up the mountain (4x4 preferred) to watch the sunset, you could hike up as well, kids enjoyed the play area which is different from the regular ones, attention to detail and beautiful gardens which allowed for great photos around the farm, we were fortunate enough to join the team out into the fields for medication to the newly born calf, also got a history lesson on Swartberg, the old cheese factory with a larger group worked out well for us with access to the spacious lounge, kitchen, dining room, fireplace and braai area. Tame horses for kids to ride on. Minimal impact with an inverter system which carried the essentials through load shedding. April visit but felt the chill in the evenings. Rooms well insulated and a fireplace kept the room warm. Plenty of wood. Fresh great tasting milk supplied daily. Pet friendly. Safe and secure. A silo converted pool which was icy cold and flies troubled us abit other than that an incredible stay.

First point to make is about the host, Jurie, which is amazingly friendly, making you feel very welcome to stay here. From the start, which was a very warm welcome, he makes everything perfect. From showing us the accommodation to making sure our food is served exactly how we like it, to arranging the fireplace to be started so we can end our evening in a cozy (and romantic) manner. The rooms are very spacious and classic farm style. The rooms we had on the main square had a lovely view over the garden and mountains in the distance. The whole facility is beautiful and I recommend to take stroll around to watch everything. The restaurant has a nice view over a (sort of) tiny lake at the rear, where you can enjoy the high quality breakfast and dinner. Overall very highly recommended. The only negative point is that we only booked this accommodation for 1 night. We would have loved to stay here for more nights, enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and great food.
