This is a truely beautiful setting set in the Magoebaskloof Gorge. Butterflys & plants of beauty a plenty and the gorge river a site on its own.
You can see the person had a vision years back & it was to offer people nature & nature based activities to refresh &, rejuvinate the soul with the option of adrenilin rushes for the more adventerous.
The place to looks to have hosted many a school, church or corporate team building programs in the past with obstacle courses etc placed on site & throughout the 2 walking trails.
We camped so I cant speak for the tents or chalets that were all nestled strategically to be emmersed in the jungle type bush many with stunning views, but we had one of the only camp sites looking down the gorge that was a winner.
The abutions were clean, but hotwater is in the form of a donkey aligning itsself more to team building blue print than that for private camping.
The staff were real gems, from Mary in reception, the lady in the small resturant / bar to our 2 activity guides Nathanel & John. Helpful, friendly, engaging and always willing to make a plan.
The activities were a bargain compared to pricing in the Cape & safety was upheld to the highest standard. Whats more they included a small meal after evrey activity - Now that was a 1st for us.
The Gorge Zipline was stunning, criss-crossing the gorge over the waterfalls. Was thouroughly enjoyed by all with laughter, wonder, awe expressed by the children & adults alike. The only negative was the fact that it felt so short despite being 2hrs I think.
The Tubing was fantastic with nerves aaplenty given the river was high and in full throttle. There were large jumps, next to waterfalls, rope river crossings & leasure floating all in one day and the water never proved to be to cold - March 2025.
Nathanel & John need a special mention given thier attention to detail, filming, photograghing, looking after our 9 yr old in a strong river, jumping 12m etc. You guys are brilliant, missed & such an example of how to work with guests.
My son & I did both hikes / walks available and enjoyed the views, plants & jungle feel.
Our 2 nights there revealed beautiful stars being in a gorge with limited light
In conclusion despite the stunning beauty. peaceful setting & wonderful hosts I get the impression the person who ran with the original vision has lost interest or not around because the chalets, tents & amenities look tired & neglected and those holding the forte (and bravely so) can only do so much. I believe the venue needs a new visionary with the love , marketing ability & captial to restore the place to its original state or it may be lost down the road. This would be a terrible lost given its potential to rstore, refesh & heal...
Read moreOh my word - I had the most amazing and breathtaking experience ever today! I booked a slot for the Magoebaskloof canopy tour at 09h30.
Victor and Xhosa treated me like royalty, I felt so special. They made sure that I felt safe (obviously they don't know me and my wild streak) and even took pictures for me.
The Gorge is utterly spectacular.. ziplining over the waterfalls and rivers, in between and over the trees was an experience and memory I will never forget.
When I got back, a yummy chicken burger and chips were waiting for me. Can't wait to do...
Read moreThis place is amazing, there are loads of interesting activities for adrenalin junkies such as abseiling into the river, tubing, kloofing and my personal favourite, ziplining etc. This a family friendly place that has lovely sceneries that are calming. You can literally spend the whole day here and not be able to even do all the activities. It's really a fun place to be at, for all age groups. This is one of those places that everyone has to have on their bucket list. I absolutely love it and i will definitely visit the place...
