Me and my partner came here for a weekend away, and although we encountered a friendly host, friendly staff, and had thought the place to be charming, we woke up at 4:30 A.M on our first night to find a stranger in our bedroom robbing us. After being aware of his presence, the thief took off and escaped with my partners phone and wallet. After realising what happened, I ran outside and searched the premises for the intruder, and I encountered another man walking with two bags and a sheet that was tied and hanging over his shoulder. As soon as he saw me standing a few meters away from him, he dropped the bags and sheet and started running. The bags and everything inside of them, including the belongings inside the sheet belonged to us. I chased after the intruder, whilst screaming for help. He escaped after falling down a bank and running into the dark. The intruders were able to enter through the windows that had no burglar bars and enter our bedroom door. We were told that we didn't need to worry about the absence of a front gate or the lack of security, only to be robbed a few hours later. What's really terrifying about the ordeal is that me and my partner only went to bed at about 3:30 A.M and the intruders entered our room and robbed us within an hour - meaning that they were watching us the whole night long and waited for us to go to bed. Me and my partner are still very traumatized by the event and can't believe that something so horrifying really happened. Until further safety and security measures are taken, I wouldn't recommend staying here. We were lucky we weren't harmed or even killed, and for that we are thankful. We tracked my partners phone to a nearby township, and seeing as the lodge is located close by and is such an easy target, we fear the lodge may get...
Read moreThe staff and host were friendly. The rooms were ok but could have been cleaned thoroughly before we came in. The downside was security. There was ZERO security but when we got there the lady assured us that there is so much security around only to find there is none at all. No security guards and no cameras were working and there is no gate or fence around the whole place or any signs of armed response. We lost our swimming towels and swimming suits to thieves and the owner never apologised because he didn't want to take responsibility for the loss and up to now he has not apologised. He claimed more security will attract more thieves. When we lost our wet towels that we left outside we asked the worker to check what happened on the cctv he said ok only to come back later and say the cameras were not working they were hit by lightning which I don't believe at all. He then asked to search our bags to see if we didn't have the towels inside and this I found very offensive and disrespectful. If you care so much about your safety you have to think twice. You cannot leave anything outside so who knows what else can happen to you. The place is beautiful and child friendly but in south Africa security...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible. The owner( an absolute lunatic and racist) ordered staff members to follow us around at every turn. He got into multiple confrontations with guests about Absolutely everything. He is a very rude and uncultured man. The water and electricity cut every 2 hours. The infrastructure and facilities are old and ugly. The deco is bordering on cultural appropriation and also rather scary. A very disappointing experience all round. I wouldn't recommend anyone book this spooky place with a crazy racist owner. Especially not black people. It deserves a...
