We travel between Gauteng and the Eastern Cape regularly and we are so glad to have found this gem!
First of all, it's pet friendly. The cottages we stayed in (Meerkat & Mongoose) had a small enclosed garden, perfect for our dog.
The rooms were well-equipped and have all you need for a stop-over.
Justin, Freyni and their son welcomed us and made sure we had everything we needed.
The best part was the hot meal, served in your room. We had the juiciest lamb chops with really tasty roasted veggies and baby potatoes. Everything was cooked to perfection with fresh herbs complimenting the taste.
It was all building up to the highlight of the stay - the home made apple crumble. Even my mother-in-law, who swears she does not eat warm fruit, had a second helping.
We will most definitely stay...

The homemade 2 course dinner we pre-ordered was scrumptious. We had the rosemary chicken and lamb chops options and had a surprise pear crumble with custard for puds. We also enjoyed the pre-ordered breakfast on the road the next day (boiled eggs, scones with cheese and jam, yoghurts, fruit and fruit juice) We appreciated that the cottage was pet friendly for the pet cat we were traveling with. The farm animals(chickens and sheep) were fun to see and the sunset was breathtaking... great photo opportunity! Overall this is a convenient and comfortable...
Read moreWe stayed in the Rosemary lodge at Erin's on a stopover from Knysna. Exceeded expectations. Large rooms and a very large steep with a fenced in section. Pet friendly if you want your furry friends to run around. Milk in the fridge a nice touch. Self catering but they do arrange braai packs etc if required. Our wood fire was already laid with kindling and firefighters. All we needed yo do was strike a match. Freyni communicated well with us and was attentive without being intrusive. Stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the vast Karoo landscape was a bonus. I think 2 nights minimum stay as a stopover...
