FANTASTIC, WE WILL BE BACK, those who want to relax cannot find a better place!!!!! Liked · Simply fantastic We arrived late afternoon, Wilhem the owner arrived immediately to welcome us. And what a nice surprise, Wilhem instead of the room with bathroom and kitchen, gave us the Cottage - upgradet us -. Small private garden in front with a round table and 4 very comfortable chairs, where I spent several hours looking at the view, or in front of my computer drinking a glass of wine or something else. Upon entering you find yourself in the living room with kitchen. 2 3-seater sofas, TV, spacious and well-equipped kitchen. From there you arrive in a bedroom with 2 single beds or in the master bedroom with a double bed and 1 extra bed. From the 2 bedrooms you have access to the bathroom. Bathroom with bathtub and shower, the shower is large and accessible even with a wheelchair. The entire Cottage is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Not to forget the semi-covered swimming pool at the main House with a splendid view of the mountain - the water was the perfect temperature, swimming was really good for me, sofas on the deck, deckchairs, gym equipment, barbeque and a table for eight people. At sunset around 6pm you can see the animals - Kudu, Elan ect... The only day we moved was to visit the Zebra Park not far away +- 25 minutes. However, for walking or mountain biking enthusiasts, there is plenty of space We spent some wonderful days enjoying the absolute tranquility. Wilhem his wife Sue Ellen and children are so personable, always ready to help, they make you feel very special. In my experience it is advisable to bring your own food and drinks. Enjoy the evenings with some nice barbecues. Even if you notify a few days in advance Sue Ellen will be available to cook a perfect dinner for you. Of course this comes with a price tag of around R350 - R400 without the drinks. But I can assure you that it's worth it. Sue Ellen uses only the best ingredients and cooks them to perfection with lots of love. I'm sure we will be back. Everthink was...
Read moreThe guesthouse is located well outside Cradock in a lovely location looking over the nearby mountains. The room (misleadingly called a 'Kings Suite') was a single room with en suite that was quite pleasant, albeit rather dark, and comfortable.|We ordered dinner for both nights of our stay knowing that it is a long drive to Cradock, the nearest town. We were asked about food allergies but were given no menu or choice of dishes apart from being asked, on our second day, what meat we would like! On the first evening, there was a salad starter waiting on the table but we only had time for a few mouthfuls before the main course of over-cooked fillet steak was brought to the table. We had not been asked whether we liked steak or how we liked it cooked. On the second evening, we had the requested pork but no starter salad, although we were charged the same price (210 rand, excluding drinks) for each dinner.|Breakfast on the first morning was said to be 'full English ' but comprised coddled eggs (which neither of us like), overcooked streaky bacon, beef sausages (we both like pork, not beef), mushrooms stuffed with garlic, and roasted cherry tomatoes, i.e. no resemblance to a proper English breakfast. There was also an unrequested dish of fruit and cream, which neither of us wanted. On the second day, there was a 'continental breakfast ' of which all we wanted were cereal and the over-baked croissants. For these breakfasts, we were charged 100 rand each.|Shortly before checking out, we received an email from Booking.com stating that the price of 2250 rand for 2 nights included breakfast. When we checked out, we were charged 2650 rand. When this discrepancy was pointed out, the proprietor refused to change the invoice. |In view of this over-charging, the attitude of the owner ('take it ir leave it') and the poor breakfasts, we would not recommend this guesthouse, especially to...
