Platbakkies Farm Retreat — Hotel in Kamiesberg Local Municipality

Once again, our stay at Platbakkies was amazing!!! Dawie and Lizelle Burden are excellent hosts and always makes anyone feel welcome in their beautiful place.

If you are looking for a great place to stay and enjoy your time in absolute Peace and great views of Namaqualand - this would be it!!!

You also get to enjoy the farm experience with Chickens, Dogs, Cats and Sheep roaming around... They also make their own homemade Jams and lots of other things that you can only expect to find there - like a scarf made from 100% Merino Wool, made from a neighbor's farms wool - that Lizelle knits herself!! I got one for myself (", )

I arrived as a stranger and left as a friend, and will always choose to stay at Platbakkies whenever I am in...

Friendly host and hostess. The accommodation was really nice. (Separate house) at the homestead. We had a few meals prepared by the hostess, which were very tasty. The farm had WIFI available, but no cellphone signal, which made it awkward if yo depended on being contactable while away. The hot water was pure solar and with the weather, we had landed up in us, not always having hot water for showering. The farm is a working farm and it was nice to see their animals and how to make thins work in a very isolated spot. It was close enough for us to have lovely day outings to The Namakwaland park to see the flowers. When visiting the place, follow the directions carefully as the host is aware of what is the best routes...

I lost my motorcycle friend some 35 km from Platbakkies farm. I stopped in front of their farm and ask for some petrol. They give me petrol and help searching for my motorcycle friend. We drove 35 km back and they send a search app to find my missing motorcycle friend. So in area of 200 km people were looking for him. And eventually somebody recognize him and send him to Platbakkies farm. We stay a night at their very spacious and luxurious guesthouse and a very nice dinner was served in the guesthouse. The next morning we had a delicious breakfast before we continue our journey.
