I stayed (solo) for one night in January. This review is relatively objective as have been undertaking long road trips for the last 13 years. Great to be back after a two year Covid hiatus.||||Easily found in this small town. ||||Friendly, welcoming staff at Lords Kitchen - all part of the same property.||||Secure, enclosed car parking.||||Whilst I booked at the Lord Carnarvon Hotel, expecting a proper old school Karoo property, my room was in fact at the rear of the building, presumably the Guest House. The bedroom and kitchenette were spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The aircon was quiet and efficient. A large outdoor braai and seating area was provided. Bathroom was an adequate size, with excellent shower pressure in the separate cubicle. ||||The evening lamb (what else in the Karoo!) meal, served by choice in the courtyard was to a decent standard without being outstanding.||||As I was the only guest, no cooked breakfast was available, just a take away. Somewhat disappointing for a ‘hotel’. No matter, I enjoyed an excellent cooked brekkie down the road in Williston at Mamas.||||Self checkout...
Read moreIf you are traveling in the Northern Cape and going through Carnarvon, and need a place to rest, then Lord Carnarvon is your answer. This lovely small hotel has everything you need. It includes a restuarant and bar. The owner and his staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. I stayed there for 3 nights because I had to work in Carnarvon and they really looked after me during my stay. Each morning I got a goodie bag with food, sweets and water for the day. The reatuarant offers all kinds of authentic karoo meals and they also provide wood fried pizzas. The rooms are spacious and includes a mini kitchen. There is not much to do in Carnarvon, but thr Lord Carnavon is a good oasis to rest,...
