Few weekends ago, I had the distinct pleasure of retreating with my closest friends to a serene hunting lodge nestled deep within the countryside. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of peace and quietude that felt a world away from the bustle of daily life.

The lodge itself was nothing short of exquisite — rustic in charm yet refined in its comfort, with every detail thoughtfully curated to enhance our experience. Surrounded by sprawling acres of unspoiled farmland, the property offered breathtaking views and a sense of open freedom that is increasingly rare to find.

The food, I must say, was of remarkable quality. Each meal was hearty, flavourful, and beautifully prepared — a true celebration of local produce and culinary skill. We found ourselves lingering around the table, not only for the food but for the warmth and camaraderie it seemed to inspire.

Equally impressive was the calibre of the staff. Attentive yet unobtrusive, they carried out their duties with genuine care and an effortless professionalism that made us feel both welcome and valued throughout our stay.

The farm itself was vast and teeming with wildlife. For those with a sporting interest, the variety of game available made for a truly engaging hunting experience, while the sheer natural beauty of the land offered plenty to enjoy for those simply wishing to unwind.

Ahmed, Richard, Eddy and the rest of the crew at Avondale Private Lodge went above and beyond during our stay at this amazing place. Besides the beautiful nature and wild life, there are plenty of activities at the lodge. Not to mention the food which was so deliciously fresh and well prepared. The attention to detail was way above par. For any request we had they did their outmost to accommodate and deliver. We look forward to return. Just 2 hours out of Johannesburg this place is awesome for a getaway with family or friends.

Rooms are spacious, clean and cozy. House and living area is massive with all the facilities you need. Chef Mandla will feed you so well you might mistake him for your granny.

Hunting and game drives were on point with friendly and professional staff.

Would highly recommend this place to anyone that wants luxury in the Bush.
