Earlier this morning my family and I embarked on a journey from Pretoria to Koster in the hope of enjoying a stay at this establishment. We passed Koster heading towards the Botswana border post to drop off a gentlemen who works at our home in the hope of returning to Khululeka. About a day or two before our trip we received our booking confirmation from Airbnb with our Hosts details and directions to the lodge. After travelling more than 400 Km’s , we stopped off in Zeerust as we are shopping for groceries to enjoy during our stay and we were meant ro check into a self catering unit. We contacted our host in the hope of receiving final directions to Khululeka as we were approaching and would be heading towards it from the opposite direction from that of our booking confirmation, only to be told that we will not be accommodated on the night. In deep confusion we asked for clarification and we were told no there are new owners & there is a double booking and we will be the family that won’t be accommodated on the evening. The same host contacts us and offers alternative accommodation , suggesting we drive a further +- 50km towards Rustenburg to stay in a Hotel , however the condition is there is no water there. In deep disappointment and frustration considering money had been withdrawn months before for the occasion and we still received booking confirmation , we were forced to drive back home in Rainy Over Cast & dark conditions which was an additional 3 hours from our planned trip.
It is currently 1AM and I am fortunate to be writing the message from the comfort of my home but I’m still really trying to process the way My family and I have been treated.
To be completely honest...
Read moreThe place is beautiful and very peaceful. With animals surrounding the area. However, within a few hours of our arrival, there was a power outage. We were notified by the owner that they reported the matter to Eskom, and were on it. He promised to switch on his batteries for two hours later that evening. Due to the bad weather the water got cold quicker than expected so we couldn’t shower. We woke up to the same circumstances. The owner told us that his batteries were completely depleted, and there was nothing he could do for us. Only for us to find his TV and lights on, when we asked for help with the braai fire. It was only after this incident that the power was restored until our departure...
Read moreWe used it as a base camp for trips into the surrounding area like Pilanesberg. For this purpose Khululeka is good enough. The rooms are really nice and the kitchen is well equipped. The tips for further trips from the owners and the staff where good. The kids loved the pool. But: there is no farm life which we expected from the description. We did a guided hike with one of the staff guys but couldn’t walk...
