Garden Court Mthatha — Hotel in King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality

Out of all my previous bookings at GC Mthathta, the last stay 01-04/06 2021, was the most dissapointing experience ever. The ONE night that we (4 colleagues) opted for Buffet-Dinner (let me add @ R200+/person), the food served was WAY BELOW the GC standards & quality - lockdown restrictions totally aside. The Pork Roast was so undercooked, it should NEVER even have left the kitchen to be served. Blood was seeping from it, no matter from which side the chef carved. Paper-thin slithers had fried on the grill, for those patrons who were daring enough to eat the meat. Advertised Lamb Chops were in fact Mutton, that was so tough one could not even cut it with a knife. Politely we asked to speak to the Chef on duty - to no avail. Kitchen Supervisor came instead, and just stared at us as if we were from another planet, turned around and walked back to the kitchen. We then requested for the Duty Manager, whom was "on the phone", amd never even bothered to come out of the kitchen. The Restaurant Supervisor came to the table, briefly attempted an apology, and then informed us, that we can order meals from the Al la Carte menu, but the charge would be the buffet price, as we had already dished from the buffet-service. SERIOUSLY!? We literally could only eat the side salads & deserts, which I will add, was delicious (the GC Standards we know).

We will definately, think twice before sitting down for Buffet Dinner at...

The service from the personnel is exceptional with a well-maintained property and rooms. The only challenge was today (07 May 2022) with the day's breakfast chef (Nazipho/Zizipho please pardon me if i may have got the name incorrect) not being hospitable (cheeky, serving an omellette still watery and leaving it in the open for minutes in the open not covered or heated) and not being interested when asked if she was done with preparing it having her back turned on me and being dismissive in her response after asking her about it for the second time pointing to it from a distance concerned about her mobile. I would not like to have such an incident taint the reputation of the hotel as the overall hospitality from all other personnel was excellent and would recommend it to others whom may want to stay there for a few days business away from...

Hi all. Me and my family would like to say thankyou soo much to the Mthatha Garden Court staff. They made our weekend stay so pleasant and effortless. Your smiles truly go a long way,just so you know. I have a very big family and had booked 3 family rooms, but all that running after my kids was made easy by your staff. Please talk to that lady that serves breakfast...She was so unpleasant to us ,the kids and other guests were also complaining about her attitude.|| I would also like to commend your Security Services from Starlight Security, as they were soo helpful in helping us with our trailer,even when it was pouring, they did it with a smile.
