Stopped over at Ploegfontein Farm on my way back to Johannesburg from Cape Town. A perfectly comfortable midway stop over about 68km from Colesburg and a short 5km dirt road drive off the highway. We were warmly welcomed by Yverne who had prepared the most delicious karroo lamb pie and boere boontjies, pumpkin fritters and roast potatoes for dinner with ice cream and hot chocolate sauce for desert. The milky way in the night sky was amazing and we had a refreshing dip in the pool. A continental breakfast was ready for us for the morning and there were beverages in the mini fridge. Read moreConvenient stop over when travelling far distances. We usually self cater and had to use a braai at the pool which was a little way from the accommodation which felt a bit awkward using, like we were braaing in someone else's property. They were super helpful and friendly and brought us what we needed to braai, but the unit is not really set up for self catering as we felt bad as there was no place to wash greasy braai dishes, and had to do our best rinsing in the wash basin.

After driving in a thunderstorm from Jozi and arriving during load shedding at nite, she was standing at the entrance of her property with a lantern.
