The facilities and rooms were beautiful.I was very disappointed with the service. When u check in everything that you require for your stay is explained irrespective of a welcome letter and website. We were unable to put the aircon the entire weekend thinking it was broken only to find out on check out that we needed to purchase a token for aircorn.According to facilities on website it says aircorn included and nothing about a token to be paid for it.When you pay an amount of more than 3000 rand per day it seems unfair to have to pay for the aircorn. The next issue is they say cleaning services are included and we find that place is cleaned and dishes not washed. Are we supposed to just assume because there is a dishwasher there we are supposed to sort it out ourselves without being explained about anything in this regard. Also my mum who checked in was not told to check inventory when she got to the room.Over the weekend we were short of a towel and I just used one of our towels for our kids not making a big deal of it.On checkout when they come to check they find 2 teaspoons short and a towel short and insisted we pay for it before we left.I think this is so unacceptable as we have not stolen it and it wasn't there in the first place and we had to pay.You cannot expect a 70 year old lady checking in to know about checking inventory or a welcome letter for information. Its common courtesy for all this information to be presented to a person on check in.Also when you want to hire out racquets etc for tennis there is nobody at reception and not even a bell.We literally had to knock at security to assist us.Then when you go to play table tennis there is no net. This was so dissapointing as we are time share owners ourselves and have checked in over the past twenty years to different resorts and never experienced such terrible service. If it was expected that people need to read fine print and welcome notes etc the receptionist dealing with the conflict management post the event should be more polite and courteous. If you work in the frontline and service delivery department you have to remain humble and helpful, not rude and dismissive. My husband and I being doctors ourselves work and serve people daily and ensure best quality of service delivery and if there is an issue have an adequate manner of addressing and appeasing situation. As a receptionist you are face of the company and need to be wearing a smile and remain professional at all times whether the customer may be in the right or wrong.I hope that you will find a way to improve your service because the location and rooms themselves...
Read moreOne of the worst holiday experiences I've ever had. Cheap, uncomfortable beds left us with sore backs, rock hard pillows and draconian policies in the resort. Unaccomodating and unhelpful staff. Reception staff hardly available. They do not respond to emails (but have received them when you call them to follow up). General couldn't-be-bothered attitude. Unfortunately we landed up here amidst the rioting and I needed to leave my car behind in Umhlanga to get my children home and to safety. Not one iota of assistance offered - from allowing me to leave the car in the EMPTY parking lot for a few days until I could return to fetch it, to facilitating a way to the airport given that taxis and ubers have not been running, to wanting to charge me for an additional weeks use of WiFi so that I can have access for 1 more day (I booked a 2 week stay but I'm leaving after 8 days). I was told they would do me a favour by letting me check out after 10am....since I booked for 2 weeks, no favour needed. The only assistance they gave me was to radio the patrol to give me a jump start for a flat car battery, and they feel this was of great help (the AA was en route anyway). Credit given - thanks for nothing. ||||To top it off, I travelled 7 hours to get here to stare at a garden and swimming pool. We cannot see the sea from our unit. Its an absolute waste of time. ||||I've been to Umhlanga for many years and will return again, but will never step foot into this place again. I've travelled the world and stayed in some incredible and some less incredible hotels and resorts, but in all the years I cannot recall ever having the feeling of wanting to get home so quickly. There is great potential here but it's simply lost in bad service, poor amenities (no shop or food, so bring your own - Umhlanga village is a bit out the way to be convenient), being screwed out of every last cent so you're made to feel like an inconvenience rather than a...
Read moreNot recommended as a family holiday destination, due to the fact this is not an ideal place if you looking for a variety of things too do besides swimming pool. There is nothing for the kids to do or entertain themselves with, neither are there any amenities too make use of at this place.
Upon arrival we had too get an inventory done (which is norm) but the way it was conducted like we are here to steal their items.
It says wifi is accessible throughout the this place when I tried to log on it kept cutting off as there was no signal in my room, I was then was told my phone is an issue that's why I'm not able to get consistent connection, this also applied to the other phones.
Secondly never have I ever heard of paying for AIRCON vouchers at any of my holidays or stays be it local or abroad (R50 last u approx 6 hrs) absolutely absurd come to think of it. Then despite paying for this norm function it breaks down for a day & a half.
We then find out our geyser is broken so we were then told to vacate our room for almost half the day only too find out it still doesn't work. So we had to have cold showers/bathes, incl my small kids.
Smaller issue is that we had to wash our own dishes & put it away as staff will not be doing this, are you kidding, we on holiday.
Also staff will only be avail during office hours? If there are any issues kindly direct it to security.
Then on departure we have too wait for them to do the inventory check again (norm), but now I have too pay for a hanger, dirty sheets, and then very arrogantly saying, oh sorry there's 4 towels missing, then she says to me excuse me can I check my bags, seriously?
I will not advise any person/s or family to book la lucia sands unless you...
