Laings Lodge — Hotel in Laingsburg Local Municipality

We were left stranded at 17:00 when the B&B in Hanover did not honour our prepaid booking - the establishment had closed and did not notify us. As this was the start of the Christmas holidays in South Africa (14 December), there was no alternative accommodation to be had for 250 km. Fortunately I managed to connect with Winston by phone at about 18:00, and he promised to hold three rooms for us at Laings Lodge. We arrived after midnight and were met by Havern, the night duty staff member. He willingly assisted us with our luggage. Our rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good. The exterior is very nicely done with sufficient parking. Some of the cleanest rooms I have ever stayed in, although dated. Kitchen and dining room staff are very friendly and make you feel right at home, always ready to accommodate and make you feel at home during breakfast. The accommodation advertises "dinner", but on arrival you have an option between a STEERS or OK voucher. If they decided to create a Steers voucher and you preferred the OK then they are unable to change the voucher. We stayed 4 nights which made it really uncomfortable. My overall experience was not a good one, we were informed that we could not get rooms that had a shower instead we would be placed in the main house that only had a bathtub. Additionally, we received vouchers that only catered to Steers and their Shell select shop overall limiting our food choices only to fast foods and snacks as someone who is trying to live a healthy lifestyle the food choices were extremely limiting.
