A highly recommended "glamping experience" set in a beautiful nature reserve with views for days. The tented accommodation was excellent with one of the most comfortable beds that I have ever slept in. The central kitchen/dining room/braai (barbeque) area/plunge pool area was extremely well kitted out. Large Fridge/Freezer. Gas burners x 2, one including an oven, pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, and all the equipment any Chef would want. A nice touch were the dry herbs, selection of cooking oils, vinegar's and other condiments including sugar, coffee, tea available for use during your stay. Fresh herbs, rosemary, basil, oregano as well as Spinach had been harvested and left for our use in a vase with water....The decorative Easter eggs were a brilliant thought that added to our magical Easter Weekend. ||The dining area also had a large screen TV with free wifi for those important sporting events. The property runs on solar, however lighting and device recharging were never an issue. The shared ablution facilities were excellent and included 2 showers and two bathrooms, which were ample for our 2 families of 4. Hot showers! And soap, loo roll, shampoo and shower gel are provided (as were the towels). Dan, the manager, was extremely accommodating, communicated extremely well and was extremely helpful, going to great lengths to make our stay such a memorable one. Dan is a great asset to this destination and is extremely knowledgeable about the fauna, flora and surrounding area.||Whilst I never ventured into town at all during our four nights, Montagu is only 26 km away supplies are needed. Our weekend was spent riding mountain bikes, running, hiking and 4x4ing on the property and surrounding area. A large part was also spend cooking great meals in the kitchen and braai area whilst relaxing on the deck around the plunge pool. Spectacular sunsets and starry skies were taken in from the fire pit area above the camp. Great value for money, a fantastic experience all round. Always great to come away from a trip that far exceeds one's...
Read moreThe duvet was THE best! Yes, true glamping at De Kuile on Ouberg Farm: you have a warm duvet on a bed, not a sleeping bag on the floor. |We spent a weekend with friends and experienced camping in style. In the tent the bedside lights and charge points were an unexpected bonus. The warm showers and proper loos were much applauded. The big communal kitchen/diningroom worked well, with 8 adults doing self catering inside and braaiing (BBQ) outside. Inside is a big fridge, but I suggest bringing your own cooler box for extra booze/cool drinks in summer. There are outside solar lights, but a torch is probably a good idea. Prepare yourself for peace, quiet (except for birdsong), beautiful views and endless possibilities for walks, runs and off-road cycling. |We booked a special offer, which included a game drive & a meal on a neighbouring farm, much enjoyed by all. |We will be...
Read moreWe had the most fabulous stay at Ouberg. We were on a motorcycle tour and arrived hot and dusty - the setting is wonderful nested along the river - accommodation is spacious and very comfortable - great linen as well. Great attention to detail in furnishings- the ablutions are modern clean spacious and a fantastic hot shower to clean us up - the kitchen living area is large comfortable and the kitchen lacks for nothing when it comes to Crockery Cutlery and utensils- everything is brand new. The outside fire pit a wonderful place to watch the sun go down. The plunge pool just an added bonus for those hot summer days - or to cool down after a wonderful walk up the mountain- whether you camping or in the tents it’s an awesome getaway with great facilities - the hosts have gone out of their way to make your stay memorable-...
