We had a fantastic weekend staying at Roam Rooiberg. This is an ideal place to stay if you are keen on doing some great mountain bike riding in the Robertson area. There is some great singletrack right in the nature reserve providing some great views over the valley below as you wind your way through fynbos and wildflowers. You can also connect up with the Rooiberg-Breede River Conservancy trails which provides more than 80km of trail riding around the area. One of the trails takes you all the way out to the Saggy Stone brewery where you can enjoy a great feed or drinks. Keep your eyes open as there is a variety of wildlife along the trails – mainly tortoises and antelope. We had some amazing rides while staying here. Anyway, enough about the biking…||||We stayed in a self contained 2-bedroom unit which was formerly the bike shop on site. The bedroom and living area were spacious and well furnished. A set of French slider doors open up onto a huge veranda providing amazing views out over the valley below. A couple of picnic tables on the veranda provide a great spot for eating breakfast and soaking up the views. The kitchen is well-equipped, easy to cook up your own meals. There is a woodstove in the living area, great for those cold winter days – but bring your own firewood. There is no TV but there is a free Wifi connection and very good 4G phone reception.||||Jacques and Tertia are excellent hosts, very friendly and accommodating. They really made us feel welcome and we had some nice chats. We absolutely loved our stay at Roam Rooiberg and would highly recommend it to all other travelers, especially mountain bikers and...
Read moreWhile preparing for Cape Epic 2018 I stayed for 12 days at Roam Rooiberg with Jacques and Tertia. Roam Rooiberg is a coffee- and bike shop with possibility to stay over in the separate guesthouse. The guesthouse has two spacious rooms. The bathroom is well designed and also has enough space. Beds are of great quality. Located 11 km from Robertson you are in the middle of nature. High chances are you will see baboons, antelopes, ostriches and many more animals. Jacques and Tertia will do anything to make comfortable and welcome. I have never experienced something like this. Every morning breakfast was prepared with various tasteful side dishes. All served on the veranda of the bike and coffee shop so you can enjoy the view. And they are always in for a chat or to provide info.|The trails start at the shop and cover a distance over 70 km. On terrain of Roam Rooiberg itself the largest route is 13 km which is challenging. Jacques can help you with anything with your bike. |With the goal I had I couldn’t have stayed in a better place....
Read moreLie in bed and open the beautiful concertina glass bedroom doors to have the mountain view at your feet! A highlight for us! A lovely peaceful spot in the mountains. The busy road is in the valley so there is a soft distant traffic background noise when you are outside, but it didn't disturb us. Pity about the bright light pollution at night though (hence the lost star on the rating, sorry). The building was expertly designed to work with the environment and blends in seemlessly. The hosts were lovely and made sure that we had everything that we needed. A little splash tub on the deck was ideal for the 30deg weather that we arrived in. We just enjoyed the peaceful weekend, but the location is ideal for mountain biking (there is a mountain bike shop and trails on the property). Higher clearance vehicles are advised for the property road, my i20...
