A really lovely place for a pet friendly walk We loved every minute of this hike. We did the 4km trail which takes you along the river with the beautiful mountains as a backdrop. The trail is reasonably flat, shady and easy and will suit a novice hiker or anyone looking for a scenic stroll. The roaring weir was the highlight of the trail for me while the dogs loved all the spots to swim. If you like a longer hike this trail joins the Van Gaalen/Vergenoeg trails which can add a extra 12kms to your hike. This venue felt safe and the trail was really well marked. What sets this venue apart from others is the people managing the place. Ashley was incredibly friendly and helpful and it is evident that they want every guest to leave happy which we definately did. This venue is home to 6 dogs all of which are very special to the owners. An incident involving a guest's aggressive dogs made the owners reconsider their pet friendly policy. Luckily they have decided to allow socialized dogs again. Please do not visit this venue if your dog is at all nervous, unpredictable, aggressive or poses any risk to the dogs, horses and cows that call this property home. Please also respect the owners rules and leash policy which they will communicate with you on the day of your visit. The hike was R50 per person (cash or card) and there is a restaurant on site. I recommend booking beforehand. The list of additional activities is astounding and includes accommodation, ziplines, quad bikes, horse trails, paintball, clay pigeon, archery and go karts. I have also heard that it is really special in Summer when it is Mulberry season, I will definately be back to experience this. Really worth a visit!

I was completely amazed at the lengths the staff went to just to make our experience as wonderful as possible. We were treated like family from the moment we arrived. Every moment of every activity we did was incredible. They catered to every aspect! My boyfriend has never been on a horse, but was riding like a pro by the time our trail ended. I even went on a second trail myself and the guide made a point of taking me alone when there were no other bookings. We had the most fun galloping and racing through the fields. He showed me how to ride like a cowboy and I showed him how to ride like a dressage rider. The quad bike trail was just as amazing and the guide was so professional! He made sure the first time riders were safe, while still making sure the more experienced riders could have fun. The archery was one of the most unique experiences I've had. David was an excellent teacher! I cannot find the words to express my appreciation to the staff. They could have easily made less effort as the owners were away, but instead they went all out. I would recommend Hollybrooke for everyone. No matter what your preferences are, they will make sure you have the best time possible.

The first part of the walk was extremely boring. This was for quite a few km, basically dry, straight, unattractive and dusty, until you get to the Greek church. We felt ' why are we doing this hike? ... And to have to pay for it?!' After the church it started getting more interesting but at some point we must have taken a wrong path as we walked for approx four hours instead of 2! The signposts are not very good. There are a few signs but they don't write where they head to, and there is no colour code. That was difficult and a pity. We ended up on the road, far off the beaten track. Fortunately someone kind gave us a lift back as we'd have been walking in the dark on the mud track for about 1 1/4 hrs! We were fortunate to meet a large tortoise on the pathway as well as a monitor lizard over a branch over the river. My advice is to take a litre and a half of water per person, some money for the hike as well as sun caps. Before you start the hike check exactly the route. The helper there told us where we needed to be heading, but not the signs to be followed.

Time to be brutally honest here! This was THEE worst horse riding experience I have ever had. The website was a disaster to deal with, just trying to confirm a booking was a nightmare and it wouldnt let me pay with my card. The site also promised activities that weren't even available that day. When we arrived the confused staff paired us with a younger child who wasnt an experienced rider at all. This meant that the guide refused to let us try anything more that an extremely slow walk that didnt really take you anywhere exciting like the website promised. The guide also provided no training and was very reluctant to talk or give any advise or help to the group. Even though we paid for an hour, we only went out for 40 minutes. The one horse was also in pain from a previous injury but they saddled him anyway and let the 10 year old ride him even though he was at times out of control. This was NOT a good experience at all and put a damper on our whole day of excitement leading to this (not so cheap) experience. I HIGHLY recommend using another place over Hollybrook. You will probably be as...
