Never again! Excellent caravan park and facilities with lots to do for kids in serene nature setting, unfortunately spoilt by noise and day visitors. Too expensive for what one has to sacrifice. We spent the 24-27 Sept 2020 long weekend at Klein Paradys and were bitterly disappointed. This was our first visit but also turned out to be our last. Most of our unhappiness was caused by noise/nuisance factors, but also the fact that we were paying a premium rate for peace and quiet and exclusive use of the resort facilities, at least that’s what we expected. The caravan park is located less than a kilometer from the main road, which is rough and has speed humps, with cluttering truck bodies that could be clearly heard at night. The biggest nuisance was the main entrance road that runs right alongside the full length of the southern perimeter fence, constructed of block paving, which caused a lot of road noise. The road was extremely busy throughout the day, with cars, quad bikes and motorbikes coming and going - expect one vehicle every 5-10 minutes. This was worse early morning and late afternoon when day visitors arrived and departed, accompanied by revving and speeding cars. Additionally there was the noise from loud labourers and tractors in the adjacent vegetable fields that caused a disturbance. Moreover, a loud drone sound coming from large machines, which sounded like an airplane engine, disturbed the quiet in the late night and early morning hours. And just when we thought that things couldn’t get worse, the local workforce kept going through Saturday night with loud music and singing. If you’re after peace and quiet, then make sure you get a spot well away from the southern fence line, or rather go camping at another park (for much cheaper). One more thing, the booking/reception staff are downright rude, on its own enough to keep me away for life. When I approached them to complain and mentioned a negative review, Charmaine arrogantly said that I was more than welcome. One gets the distinct impression that this establishment is just after money and doesn’t care about keeping their...
Read moreI visited as a day visitor over the weekend. Positive is that it is well maintained and beautiful. Safe place for kids to run around. I really enjoyed visiting years ago when it was not so busy.
I cannot hold it against the owners (they must be coining it) but nowadays it so extremely busy over a weekend that you can find more peace and nature in your own garden, or any of the local botanical gardens ,than driving an hour and a half and pay R150 per adult and R100 per kid. We arrived 830am and there and already no tree available to sit under next to the "dam" on the day visitors side. So we found an "illegal" place to sit on the other side of the dam between the many caravans.
My friend likes fishing so we took two fishing rods with. There were fishing rods every few meters right around the klein paradys dam. Its rather a large fish pond than a dam. I only saw one person that caught a fish for the whole day. So the poor fish are passed from one hook to the next around the dam. Its not fishing, more like mob justice.
Thus for the owners a 5/5 for making a financial success of the business but for my experience as a visitor having to drive so far to get out of the city and found something similar than jhb zoolake on a weekenend (without a Moyos), that I have to pay for expensively, I would rate it 2/5. Maybe during the week it is better.
The road on the other side of Brits is also in a bad condition. On my way back I assisted a family that went off the road into a ditch. Car written off. They went "home" in...

In summary, my wife, myself and 4 year old daughter fell ill 2 days prior to checking in for a camping weekend with friends. We booked and paid for 3 stands weeks earlier.
After a visit to the doctor and getting booked off from work for a few days, I phone the bookings number and inquired if the resort was fully booked for the weekend to which the answer was NO, there are still stands available. (This would mean that no business was shown away due to being full).
I explained our unforseen circumstance and asked if we could use 1 of our FULLY PAID stands on another weekend and they plainly refused and we lost our R1450 in full as result .
I understand T's & C's but surely an exception can be made if there is absolutely no loss on there side by allowing us to use a paid stand on another date, and actually spending extra money on food, drink, snack etc. How short sited can they be?
THE FLIP SIDE OF THE COIN, as a retiring patron, WE WILL MOST DEFINITELY NOT BE BOOKING WITH THEM AGAIN. THIS IS TRUELY SAD AND CLEARY A BAD JUGEMENT CALL...
