Stayed there for my birthday weekend in March (so almost 2 months ago). The room I stayed in was really spacious with a huge bathroom. Loved the romantic touch that they did on the bed (doves and some rose petals). Only downfall was the room was very dark so you have lights on the whole day, so if you would like those morning pics/videos by the window/balcony/bed, the lighting will not allow, it will always have a night-time feel.
Wifi is only available at the common area; being the restaurant area.
They do not bring iron to your room, you have to give your items to the staff to iron for you; ironing lady told me that its R20 per item of clothing to iron; which was news to me. Never heard of that anywhere before. But maybe she was just looking for a tip, I don't know.
My rating of service is mainly directed at the limited breakfast offering because the staff (kitchen, ground and cleaners) is absolutely amazing with infactuous warm smiles. Breakfast is not a buffet; you limited to a choice of either cereal or english breakfast (can't have both), limited to one slice of bread per plate. Plate comes standard, you don't plate up yourself so yah! You get a choice of either juice or coffee (can't have both, not bottomless like how we used to in other places), limited to one cup/glass of whatever you choice is. I had the juice and the size of the one glass that you limited to is a joke; it's the size of a toddlers sippy-cup (my partner had coffee and the coffee cups were just as small). There were 2 other tables of guests next to us and we were all quite disgruntled towards how breakfast was so limited. The plate for the English breakfast is quite big but if you like to a have a small serving of muesli and yoghurt or fruits before digging into a plate, tough! You must choose one or the other!
The location is everything; road leading up there is not so great,...
Read moreThis establishment may have been rated a 4-star decades ago but there's absolutely nothing 4-star about it now. I booked the family unit with my kids for 5 nights but ended up checking out earlier. From the facility - (we used up a can of Morten by the 2nd night but we could not enjoy a full night's sleep without cockroaches and wasps flying all over at night; and millipedes crawling all around, the shower handle of one bathroom broke on our 2nd day and it was never fixed till we checked out, the water was shut off and we all had to use one bathroom, the 2nd bathroom was all stuffy and moldy from the moment we checked in till we left) to the menu - (you get one tiny shot of juice for breakfast. Any extra request for juice costs R18, request for water also comes with a price and the breakfast menu is very much restricted). The service was nothing to write home about either. On the 2nd day, we were seeing pieces of pretzels and cookies from under the bed, possibly left behind by previous guests. I requested to speak to Kim the manager but that never happened and I had to leave. For a 4-star rated lodge, there was no Wi-Fi. Don't get me started on the road but I wouldn't blame the lodge for the road as they have no control over that but every other thing is within their control and it's definitely NOT a 4-star experience. It was a disappointing experience for my kids and I as we had expectations from the pictures and the reviews we saw online. We got little to no value for...

Whether you are looking to take a breather in complete solitude, or spend some much-needed quality time with the family, La Montagne is the perfect escape from the buzzing city life. Tucked away in Haartebeesport’s beautifully natural environment, this lodge with its stunning views is “home away from home”. The staff is super friendly; the rooms are clean with their crisp white sheets and wooden furnishings, the food competes with your mother’s laughs ,the ambiance is serene…the whole place is just a breath of fresh air! My daughter and I had the privilege to experience their spa offer when two of their therapists popped in. Now, I have had my fair share of massages, but these two ladies have a magic touch, and I knew I would be blown away with the first rub up my back! My 12 year old’s neck spasm was healed instantly and I just couldn’t believe my experience as I wobbled down the cobble stone parking of this breathtaking getaway. I doubt my daughter will whine about taking her for a swim any time soon; she enjoyed to her heart’s content, both the jacuzzi and pool, as I watched on from the restaurant a few steps away doing what all mommys deserve to do after an arduous 2024…sipping cocktails! A grand THANK YOU to the friends I made, vibrant Kim and the staff of La Montagne. I will be back for round...
