Eagle's Nest Bed & Breakfast / Self - Catering — Hotel in Makana Local Municipality

I have travelled around the country for a month and have stayed many places. Everywhere was better and cheaper than here. ||We stayed here last night. Granted, we booked in about 4 hours before arriving. We were told the family sweet was open and we were expected. Mass confusion arose when we arrived after a 5 hour drive. The cleaning lady left us outside for 15 mins, someone else was in our room. We had to move the other guests in our room to their room. Our room was cramped, smelly. The bathroom had old, used cakes of soap in the sink and shower. I could not sleep because the bed sank down in the middle and it was freezing. There were no blankets and had to find more clothes at 3am. It was like camping. Dogs barked all night. Breakfast was non existent, unless you consider rusks and Ricoffy breakfast. Stay here if you have to, otherwise...

Arrived at 15h30 on a Friday. Met by domestic worker who was very keen to go home for the evening. Discovered I will be the only person on the entire property for the night since owners live off site and no other guests. ||||Self catering flat is in fact a tiny bedroom with hot plate, noisy fridge and microwave stuck in corner. I had to drain pasta in bathroom sink. No seating for a meal or to watch TV. Had to have my meal sitting on bed unless I sat outside in the cold on a picnic bench. A single wooden chair in the very cramped room. Stacked dirty dishes in a plastic basin for the night. Did not even bother with the cheap coffee offered. No heater or hot blankets as advertised. WiFi not working. Aircon not working....

The owner was not present when we arrived - left to maid. When called, she was surprised and unsure if we had booked. Did not know we had paid a month in advance and did not instruct her staff which room to put us in. Forced to change rooms. Advertised as self-catering, but no kitchen basis to wash dishes, cutlery, glasses... then she tells me she has 30 years experience and has NEVER had 1 complaint. Yowser... blamed it all on the fact that a dealer service in Port Elizabeth had delayed her that day. So no delegation or...
