This was our first South African safari experience. We were certainly not disappointed. |From the moment we arrived we were met with friendly attentive staff who could not do more to make our stay a pleasure. |The tents were spacious with a huge comfortable bed, hot showers and all the creature comforts of a great hotel room. The pool and grounds were impeccably maintained and really added to the experience! |The ranger guides were fabulous- shout out to Marli for her sheer grit and determination to get us the most wonderful experience of seeing wild animals so close up! She really smashed it out the park! Exceptional is the word here! |The hot chocolate and amarula around the fire at the end of the evening drive was just perfect! Time to unwind and share the days experiences. |Casual dining at one table really made the trip, getting to know new people and hear their experiences really added to the charm of the camp! |We didn’t want 5* stuffy vibe and the tented camp really delivered. The food and drink was abundant (albeit I was sceptical on booking) and there was pretty much all your heart desires on hand for your stay! |I would visit again in a heartbeat and the staff really made this place something kind of wonderful- so take a bow! You really are...

Where to start? Our first safari experience and it was everything we wished for and more. A truly immersive, authentic and fabulous experience. The tents are big with a comfy bed and an en suite shower and toilet. In October it was still rainy and cold but we were perfectly comfortable - electric blankets were switched on in the turn down service and only the wind kept us from a full night's sleep. Didn't matter though as this place cares about giving you a good safari and all the animals were seen (except the elusive leopard). Our guide for 3 days was Nico and he suited us just fine. He was funny and caring and genuine as well as very knowledgeable. You meet other guests and spend all your meals with them as well as drinks around the campfire. You truly feel part of the Woodbury family and all the staff are friendly and great at their jobs. We were there for the Rugby WC final and lovely Nico gave up his night to drive us to the rangers' club on the reserve to watch it on the big screen. And he wasn't the only one - 16 of us went. It has two lovely pools, excellent food and is fully all inclusive with drinks available all day. If you want have a heartwarming experience, look no further and book this place. You will...

What a fantastic experience from the moment we arrived to welcome drinks, until our final breakfast after our final early morning safari. The accommodation was incredibly comfortable and private, we had Tent 10 with the Waiter's tent alongside where my adult son slept. We stayed for two nights and did all four safaris, our ranger, Tim, was incredibly knowledgeable and we were so grateful to have seen so much wildlife over the four safaris. The weather wasn't brilliant for a lot of our stay but even an early morning safari in the rain was an experience worth having. The food was really tasty, as a vegetarian it was great that they were so creative with my meals and the rest of my family really enjoyed their meals too. All the drinks were complimentary, as much tea, coffee, soft drinks or alcohol as you wanted. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful and helped make the stay so memorable. Little touches like the Amarula and hot chocolate after the evening safari were perfect. There were two pools available but the weather wasn't really on our side so we didn't really get to use them. I would highly recommend the Woodbury Tented Camp for your safari experience, it...

We had a great time with our guide, Greg. He was an absolute star – so much knowledge about the animals and a great sense of humour. Thanks to him, we had some amazing wildlife sightings, seeing four of the Big Five, which was a real treat. On the other hand, the lodge didn't quite live up to its expensive price tag. The food was okay, but not memorable, and the decor felt a little uninspired. Our tent was fine, but the noise from the wind made sleeping difficult on one of the nights (which is to be expected in a tent, of course). There were no instructions as to how to make the tent windproof, so it took us some time fumbling in the dark to try and figure out what flaps to close. The morning coffee and afternoon sundowners also feel like an afterthought. The main issue for us was that the reserve didn't feel very remote. Having to cross a highway to get to different parts of the park, and seeing farms and a sports centre in the distance, took away from the feeling of being out in the bush. I think in a few years once they're able to open up more of the fences this won't feel like such an issue. Overall we had a good stay, we just feel as though they need to up their game.

We had a fantastic time at Woodbury Tented Camp! Advertised as 3-star, but giving us a 5-star experience. The accommodation is neat, clean and very comfortable with hot shower, coffee making facilities and an electric blanket for chilly nights. Our game ranger Rob took us on 2 game drives. His knowledge impressed us and he did his best to make our drive memorable. Thank you Rob! After our drive we were spoiled with hot chocolate and Amarula! The staff was friendly, and everyone did their best to make us feel at home. And then the food, wow, compliments to the chef, An outstanding 3-course meal every evening! The bread with every meal was home made and delicious 😋 It was a wonderful experience to spend time at Amakhala. It was good to make use of your special, we would love to visit you again!

We stayed two nights at the camp and had a fantastic time. We basically saw all of the big 5 and many other animals. The service and love they put into everything was absolutely incredible. I very rarely experienced such a service level. Great food, great drinks, great staff. So it is indeed worth the money. You should love being in nature and shouldn’t have a problem with one or the other insect. Special shout out to Athenkosi! This guy’s smile just represents the kindness and humbleness of the people of Africa. That smile will keep us smiling for a while. Thank you.
