The one thing I absolutely hate about the place was the fact that none of their advertised phones were working or answered by anyone. The chalet itself was not that bad for the price. However entrance to the place was not appropriate, it was very very damp and slippery with a water line right on the track. We had to look for wood and stones to help us cross from the parking area to the chalet. The hot water was also a struggle to figure out, as we had to call the staff several times to come fix it. The fishing deck was also broken. I would however like to mention that the morning mist is a wonderful sight to wake up to, and the chalets are far enough from each other to provide a sense of privacy from other guests, unless they come to peep at your kitchen window since there were no curtains. The lodge pool was also not cleaned, as the cleaning guy apparently took time off or something. There were no activities available except for the hike...which was very disappointing especially since they had promised to book the quadbikes for us, which they had to cancel since the owner suddenly decided to use them for crowd control at his other hotel. Which i found very rude since the bikes would have only been used for an hour, he could have offered us that curtesy. But with all the mess assosciated, we managed to find a way to enjoy ourselves. Masira was our handler and he did his best to ensure we were catered for, and the kitchen lady as well... they were good hosts. So if you are not into luxury, but want affordable, ok-ish, peaceful environment, you should definately go there.

Nestled on the foot of the Soutbansberg range, Harnham is a gem. Travel from the N1 is 6kms on a well maintained gravel road, with bluegum trees on either side. The room is tastefully decorated and furnished, with a stoep to unwind on. There are about two 'tree houses' areas to absorb nature around, and ample space for lazying. For the adventurous, quad biking and farm drive offer opportunities to know your environment. Better yet, opt for hiking and observe, absorb and appreciate nature. The establishment can boast to have Makheda as one of its own, she is a gem. A word of caution, cellphone reception is dicey - especially for MTN. My major pet peeve- palm trees- they break the indigenous theme that I appreciate. Also these trees are not kind to our ground water. Establishment needs to update their contract numbers and Google directions, a few pictures on the website will certainly attract more customers. Overall, Harnham is a wonderful short-left for a fatigued city slicker.

Sorry for the bad review. But grass not maintained long. Animal poo not cleaned up in front of rooms. Rooms don't get cleaned up during the day. Was told there is no key to lock the room because previous people took it so door stays unlocked. Very little maintenance gets done. Shower water doesn't drain properly coffee and sugar doesn't get filled up again. Definitely won't be a place I'd recommend. Alot would have to change. No generator for back up power for loadshedding no TV in rooms no...
