Mount Azimbo Lodge — Hotel in Makhado Local Municipality

My wife and I were returning from Punda Maria in the Northern Kruger National Park and decided on a sleepover somewhere in the Louis Trichardt area. Based on the favourable Tripadvisor reviews we chose Mount Azimbo Lodge that turned out to be a good decision. Upon reaching the entrance from the main road we were a bit unsure whether it was a good choice as the road leading up to the Lodge requires some maintenance and caused our sedan car to do some bottom scraping at times. As we arrived at the Lodge and were welcomed in a very friendly way by Marais the owner, and after viewing our neat and comfortable room we quickly changed our minds. Once we had settled in our room the owner invited us to the bar for complimentary welcoming drinks. They do not serve any snacks or meals during the day but referred us to the Avoca Vale Country Hotel down the road for lunch, as we were rather hungry when we arrived. The Lodge has a very talented chef who served a very tasty and well presented dinner and breakfast the next morning that is included in the accommodation rate. The owner’s daughter is a talented musician who provided relaxing background piano music while we enjoyed dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would gladly recommend it...

I have never had a HOME so far from home! Felt like I was received by family. So warm, genuine and clean. The food was so well prepared with love and pride. From the day I enquired up to us leaving, it was so special and different. Full DSTV, full WIFI, beautiful and well equipped chalets. Warm water, beautiful birdsong and views. Top security, extremely humble and genuine friendly staff, leaded by Ambani. A professional on his own taking pride in what he does. He receives you as a friend and you leave him behind as family...His awesome brother, cooking up a storm and even bringing it to our chalet. Where will you find this????? I will drive out of my way to sleep there again. We often travel, this is an amazing place to STOP! This place is something different. In total! It’s a terrible place|Not what was advertised |I would totally recommend no one goes to that lodge book somewhere else and save your money |My family and I went there for the weekend when we got there on the very same day the tv wasn’t working,there was no iron no kettle no microwave no fridge no plates no towels no soaps no wardrobes terrible bedding no plugs in the bedroom the air conditioner wasn’t working some lights weren’t working there wasn’t even a iron board but they said they do provide ironing boards |The food is trashy there’s cockroaches everywhere|This lodge is very tribalist if you are not Venda you won’t get good service|Don’t waste your money just go to a...
