I fell in love with this country lodge. It's a four star lodge not much to write about when you first drive past but boy am I glad we decided to stay the night there! The rooms were cosy, spotless, and the underfloor heating was the cherry on top! So the small town of Harrismith is generally known for it's chilly Winters, let me tell you, this we stopped by on a Summer's night but by 17:50 we could already feel the chill. The lodge is both an events and conference center, has its own man made dam with a cute little windmill on the side, a smallish sun room for afternoon drinks, a bar area and an inhouse sit-in restaurant too. The meals were hearty, simple and tasty. Im an avid tea drinker,I was chuffed to find that they had tea sets and mugs in their room service tray...and they had Wedgewood' gourmet biscuits on the side. My heart was sold! Oh and the white cotton linen, did it for me. Most of the sleepover places along the N3 don't seem to have white linens anymore... Thatched roofs gave the establishment just a bit of character , the quaint country style garden was gorgeous, we saw two rabbits hopping about the lawn. The rate was not too bad either ,at R780 per night, self-catering. It's ideally situated just off the N3, nice too for family events that will have people from the two provinces of KwaZulu-Natal and Johannesburg. 10/10 *Unfortunately my pics are of a poor quality 😔

I stayed here with my boyfriend while visiting his family who lives nearby in Harrismith last December. We stayed in the Makoti luxury suite. It was very nice with lots of storage in wooden cabinets. I wish we took more photos of the room because it was absolutely beautiful with the windows on both sides, high ceilings, and fireplace. I loved the thatched roof. It was very interesting for me to watch a hail storm from our private balcony! I was visiting from America, so thatched roofs and hail storms are a novelty for me. The pool was clean and refreshing. It was nice walking around the property and viewing the ostriches. We enjoyed the spa tub and fire place in the evenings. We ate at the restaurant the first night and got room service the second night. Honestly, we were not too crazy about the food. The only other issue we had was the sound of traffic from the nearby highway, but it was easy to ignore considering all the other beauty with the gardens and architecture.

Great for stopover if traveling between Gauteng and KZN coast. Rooms neat and well equipped. Coffee & tea provided in rooms. Many large oak trees and beautiful gardens and buildings. All meals available on al la carte menu. Good selection of dishes served in quaint 'old world' dining room. Meals we had for dinner were very tasty, but sadly we could not stay for breakfast owing to other committments. There is also a large, beautiful wedding venue which was being prepared for a wedding. Without a doubt the most beautiful wedding tables and decor I have seen.

I've just about had it with Lala Nathi! We have been staying at this Lodge for many yrs now as a mid point break on the way to Kzn as well as when returning, however the past 2 or 3 yrs we have been disappointed time and time again! The last time it was a case of when we checked in we were told they had no knowledge of our booking! Yet I had booked 10 days prior and even requested a specific chalet nr! We were then told there was however one bungalow still left which we had no choice but to take! What then makes my blood boil is the tv which has no signal!... no wonder it was the only one left! So we packed up and stayed at Mountain View Inn instead! (The old Pringles) On a previous occasion it was a case of being told they couldn't help us with a food order as the kitchen was busy with wedding catering! Most of the time there's always an issue with the tv signal! Then if u want to watch the rugby game at the bar's tv u get a dirty look because the barman is watching a soccer game! So now we've just decided to sleepover elsewhere... where...
