We officially traded Gauteng in for the Free State for the week and already spotted the last of the blooming Cosmos along the way, signalling the change of season (and that Winter would be with us very soon).|These flowers are a common sight in the Free State, especially along roadsides and in fields, as they have naturalized and become a part of the local landscape.||As Winter snuck up on us, we've arrived at Mount Everest Guest Farm (with our not-so-little fur-baby) to rest, relax and recharge, after what has been a whirlwind start to the year. On this occasion, we opted to go green and booked a chalet that is off the grid. ||What you can expect from this pet-friendly chalet?|The cabin sleeps four (4) but, with a steep stairway to access the chalet and the loft beds only reachable by a wooden ladder (both featured here), we wouldn't recommend it for small children or elderly people. ||What our Eco Cabin includes:| Gas stove| Gas heater| Outside braai area with table and chairs| Fridge, Electric blankets and lights (which run on solar battery, so we are hoping for lots of sun, especially since we also snuck in our Nespresso machine). 😉||What's not here (due also to the solar battery)?| Hairdryer | Toaster | TV| Fan|~ Iron or anything additional.. ||*Key to note here (especially if there isn't a lot of sun around): Keep an eye on the battery. 🔋||We had a few days of very little sunshine and which in turn had a knock on effect on the fridge and lights that run on solar battery. ||📌...

We had an incredible weekend getaway at Mount Everest in Harrismith and it truly exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by breathtaking views and the peaceful sounds of nature. It is the kind of place where you instantly feel your stress melt away.
One of the highlights was the long walks through the bush, surrounded by wildlife and open skies. It felt like we were in the heart of Africa. There are also dams scattered around the property and even rock climbing options for the more adventurous. It is the perfect balance of peace and play.
The accommodation was top notch. The rooms were warm, spotless, and super cozy, a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. The kitchen was fully equipped with all the essentials and more, including modern and brand new appliances.
The WiFi worked surprisingly well, which was a nice bonus when we wanted to share a few snaps or check in online, but honestly, we hardly touched our phones.
Our pets had the time of their lives. Being off leash and free to explore the open space made it feel like a holiday for them too. It is rare to find such a pet friendly place that does not sacrifice on comfort or quality.
Overall, Mount Everest in Harrismith is a hidden gem for anyone looking to unwind, connect with nature, and enjoy quality time with or without pets. We are already planning our...
Read moreOften you get what you pay for, sometimes though, you get more than you expected! That was my experience of Mount Everest game farm. We needed a quick weekend get away from the city and some peace. Kobus was amazing from the start, he was in constant communication (even though my e-mail server sent some of his msg's to junk) he would WhatsApp and keep us updated.
When we arrived there was no power due to load shedding but there were battery operated lights in the house for us to use.
On the Saturday there were some climbers that climbed behind the house, they were quite and were really cool to watch as they did a multi pitch climb.
The house was clean and super quiet, just what we wanted. the service was great too. If you are looking for a get away in the mountains then this is perfect, if you want the city and an amusement park then not really a place that you will enjoy.
We will definitely be back for more peace and quite and time in...
