I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially families traveling with small children. I would never book here again. We stayed overnight in Harrismith with our two-year-old twins and booked this place based on the many good Google reviews — which now truly surprise me. The bed was in terrible condition, squeaky and bouncy with every slight movement, making it impossible to sleep. Ended up having to move them and ys to the single beds, which we had to reinforce with matts and towels to even it out on the floor, as it was rocking back and forth when moving on the bed. After scrolling down on past reviews , I noticed someone mentioned this same issue four years ago, which clearly means the mattresses were never replaced. The host was friendly and accommodating when we arrived, but the units need serious TLC — especially the beds and couches, which are completely sat through. To make matters worse, we woke up to no power. When we asked the owner about the generator (as other reviews mentioned backup power), he simply shrugged and said there was nothing he could do. Might I also mention, on a different review the owner had mentioned they do indeed have a generator. With no light, no way to feed our twins, and no way to make coffee or tea, we packed up and left by 6:30 a.m. For R750 a night, this was very disappointing. I wouldn’t stay here again — honestly, they shouldn’t be listed on LekkeSlaap or Airbnb at this rate unless they upgrade or drop the price!

This is a very affordable self catering place with lovely clean units. It is run by an extremely friendly and helpful family. Some units have their own small garden and braai facilities. There is wifi in some units. The traffic noise from the highway is quite loud.

Great overnight accommodation. We were welcomed with open arms and the manager was very helpful. Rooms are spacious and it was very comfortable. The view is beautiful! Great value for money.

Communication was lacking, I arrived 5min early, (the host liked to mention this). I couldn't get a hold of the host and had to wait an extra 30min +-. I arrived in the middle of load sheading, no device were given to help with lighting. The room is a bit shabby and needs attention, holes in the wall, curtain tie back hanging off the wall. Lots and lots of pugs in the wall socket, looks like they used my room's wall socket to feed the rest of the utilities in the house. At one point after load sheading the was no water, the host thought I switched off the electricity to the JoJo tank, came into my room and checked every plug, in the end they had to call out an electrician to fix...

Wonderful place to stay. Harrismith didn't have water for days so Francois phoned to let us have the option of cancelling. We didn't as we were on a scooter and missed the call. When we got there he provided 5 litres drinking water and a bucket and jug for flushing. He went out of his way to ensure we had a comfortable stay even though we couldn't shower. The room was clean and...
