So my experience is based on the fact that we have been to this resort many times over the years whilst it was still under RCI. It may come across as being really picky but its my honest opinion.
The dirt road coming into the resort has sections which are near impossible to pass in a normal vehicle and i feel the resort could help by grading it with a tracker or at least notifying guests in advance. There is absolutely no Cell Signal on this road so communicating with anyone or trying to get help if you get stuck is not possible and dangerous.
Whilst i understand that getting away on a holiday means switching off from the outside world, i do feel the resort needs to do more to ensure that guests have access to Cell Signal or wifi. It is impossible to get signal at any of the Chalets unless you are really close to the reception area. This upgrade is not that expensive and requires wifi boosters to be installed around the resort a simple fix and added benefit in this day and age.
Load shedding has become the new norm for most if not all SA people and the resort has not moved in the right direction. The 4.5 hour sessions of Load-shedding mean that there is no hot water and no ability to even cook because the chalet's have no Gas components. There are no Gas stoves and no Gas Geysers 2 essential items in a self catering facility who has nearly 12 hours of load-shedding a day. The generator only powers the reception area and there are no lights throughout the resort during the blackouts. A simple fix would be to install those mini solar spot lights or the equivalent around all pathways and chalets to allow guests to move around at night bearing in mind that this is not a camping resort and people dont bring headlamps with them.
The chalet's themselves are nest and well kept but they are dated and have not changed in 13 years there are no upgrades and the bathrooms need attention and upgrading. The service on the chalet only happens if you request the cleaning and this can only happen if you have cell phone signal to call reception or it means you have to walk or drive to reception to get your chalet cleaned. The driveways have not been upgrades and in some places they are falling apart and are to Narrow, again not really an expensive fix for a resort.
The activities for kids are not what they used to be and the Much Loved Boma Area now has to be hired at a cost of R3500 if you wish to use the area. In the past the resort would host Saturday Night Braais and it was really a nice end or start to a holiday. This resort still has so much potential and i hope they would work on some of the issues to ensure it gets back to its former glory. The location is amazing and is really beautiful.
I have been very critical of this resort because i actually do care and would love to go back and...

Read moreIm currently staying at Qwantani to celebrate my birthday on the 28th of September, and unfortunately, the experience left me deeply disappointed. From the moment of booking to the actual stay, the level of service did not match the beauty of the location.
At the time of booking, I was not given any choice of chalet and was allocated one with no views — an immediate letdown for a getaway that was meant to be special. When I requested a change, I was told the resort was fully booked. I strongly suggest that the website be updated to reflect which chalets have views and which don’t, or at least provide a map or layout to better manage guests' expectations.
On arrival, the exterior of the chalet was dirty and unkempt — not a welcoming first impression. It was only cleaned after I raised a complaint. To add to the disappointment, I had pre-booked and paid for horse riding, only to be told on arrival that it was unavailable during my stay.
Check-in was inconsistent and unprofessional. I noticed the family opposite me received detailed information about the resort, while I had to ask multiple questions just to get basic guidance.
My family of four had planned a group spa experience, but we were split into different time slots due to a lack of therapists — only three staff were available during a fully booked weekend, which reflects poor planning.
The restaurant and bar were also poorly stocked, with common beverages like Sprite, Coke, and Red Bull unavailable. There were no vegetables available as side dishes. I ordered oxtail and mash — a listed special — I received a partially frozen meal, which wss returned after it had been clearly reheated in a microwave. Of the three oxtail pieces served, only one small piece was edible; the rest were tough and undercooked.
This was supposed to be a relaxing birthday getaway, but the entire experience was marred by poor service, miscommunication, and lack of attention to detail. I feel disappointed and frustrated...so much so that we decided to drive 1.5 hours to Clarens for a change of scenery and experience. I will not be returning to Qwantani, nor would I recommend it to anyone. What should have been a memorable celebration turned into a...
