We can absolutely and unreservedly recommend the Blyde River Canyon Lodge! We were there as a family of 4 and had a wonderful time. You immediately feel at home and welcome. The atmosphere on site is great. We stayed in the Subird Cottage - the cottage is super spacious, very clean and well equipped and only 2 minutes away from the main lodge building. The pool is great and the lodge garden is huge.
We were lucky - a wild zebra family visited us by the pool. What an experience! There are also lots of monkeys romping around on the railings. A great spot on earth!
An extra big praise and thank you again to the cooks: the food is really great. Dinner was wonderful and very special. And the breakfast was great!
The location of the lodge is perfect for a boat trip on the Blyde River Canyon, which we can absolutely recommend to anyone. The lodge will help with the booking.
All in all, full marks for this great lodge! We would love...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay at this lodge for 2 nights at the end of our trip to South Africa. The lodge grounds are very pretty, and we enjoyed our walk down to the river and around the grounds. We loved watching the zebra with their baby that hung around the lodge both days. We also saw warthogs, wildebeest, kudu and baboons from the lodge grounds. Although the room was a bit cramped, it was pretty, quiet and clean. The bed was comfortable. I had injured my back during our stay, and the staff was helpful in providing me with an icepack and offered to have a hot water bottle for me in the evening. We had breakfast and dinner at the lodge both days and although it wasn't as good as the food on safari, it was healthy and tasty (especially the breakfast). You can choose your breakfast, but there was only one choice at dinner. The location was convenient for the Panorama Tour. Would recommend and would stay again if we return...
Read moreWe stayed here after 15 days of self drive / self catering in the Kruger for a spot of relaxation. We used the family cottage which is situated near the main house and pool area. It suited us well for a family of 4 (teen/tween girls). The stairs in the cottage are not for the unsteady though! There is a small kitchen in the cottage, but not much in the way of crockery and utensils, but I’m sure the Lodge would accommodate any requests/needs if asked. There is a good size fridge and freezer. The downstairs twin room has a shower room, with the upstairs double having a bathroom with bath. ||||We had a warm welcome from all the staff and enjoyed home cooked breakfasts and dinners. The food is lovely, with traditional South African dishes served. The Lodge is well organised and efficient, but homely and relaxing at the same time. ||We would recommend to others...
