Fantastic destination for a safari experience. First class service - from the camp staff and the guides and trackers. The knowledge of the rangers (Carlos and Godi) is excellent - going well beyond book learning, providing first hand details to every question - from termites to lions and everything in between. We felt well looked after, totally safe and enjoyed laughs along the way. The rooms are large, well stocked and have the best view in the world - out over the private game reserve. Calling them "tents" very much down plays the level of luxury - with coffee machines, air con, mini-bar and standalone baths in the rooms. The staff are very attentive and friendly, and the food seems to be non-stop, and amazing quality. We came for a 20th anniversary with our adult kids, and had the best time. It would be perfect for special occasions of all sorts - we meet lots of honeymooners and I'm sure birthdays would be extra special here. Can't fault it.

Words cannot express how wonderful this accommodation is! The rooms are large, private, and contain all of the mod cons. It is serviced twice daily, so remains immaculate throughout your stay. The food and drink are top-notch - all drinks were included (except ultra-premium liquor), the menu was varied and delicious - always a vegetarian choice, usually local game meats and a Western-friendly main dish. The service was 5-star and every request was handled promptly with a smile. The game drive staff were also outstanding (as was the private reserve itself), very knowledgeable about the local wildlife, funny, and very experienced at spotting game. We spotted the SA "Big Five" within the first 36 hours of our stay. Another bonus for us was the minimum age requirement for the lodge, which kept the atmosphere very relaxing. We wholeheartedly recommend Kapama Buffalo Camp and will definitely be back!

Absolutely an amazing experience. The camp was beautiful - small which is what we where looking for, we did not want to be squished in with a bunch of other people. The most we had on our game runs were one other couple. The 'tent' was beautiful, clean, and has everything you need. Your views are just of nature, we saw monkeys, nyala and lizards right off our porch. There were morning and afternoon/evening game drives. In the first day and a half we saw all 5 of the 'big five' and much more: male and female lions: male and female leopards; elephants; hippos; rhinos; zebras: giraffes; impalas; an ardvark; nyalas; warthogs; water buffalo; wildebeest, etc. Our guides were amazing. The food was excellent and service was superior. While you could go to the other camps, we never felt the need to. Highly recommend!

And when we are not on game drives we are eating...3 meals a day...when away from the cities with its resturants my expectations around food are not very high. Therefore, when I stumble on a place which delivers on the safari experience PLUS good food, I am beyond happy as all my needs are met for an amazing holiday. The food here gives yet another layer of pleasure....awaiting each meal eagerly ..subconsciously aware of the kilos you are piling on but shrugging the thought off for regret later. Since our arrival the kitchen consistly serves tasty, well plated and delicious food...cluedos to the chef who clearly knows what she is doing ...each plate visually beautiful and followed through with great taste. Breakfast dishes are diverse and wholesome; loved the crispy, buttery, and heavenly tasting croissants and lunch dishes are light and refreshing. I especially enjoy the evening meals as they take on the ambience of the night...soft dim lights in the dining room ( given my aging eyes I do have to squint to select the wine), the cool reflection on the pool and the beautiful sounds of the bush... complimenting the food. Some meals have lingered longer: the yummy pumpkin curry soup that was taken to another level by the coriander sauce, the caramelised onion soup with cream cheese, the salad: pear poached in pinotage, gorgonzola and caramelized onion; the creamy gnocchi dish with fresh crunchy broccoli. The off menu customized dishes for the pescatarian were always enjoyable! As the rates are all inclusive I was somewhat skeptical about what would be on offer, but this was unnecessary...the wine list is impressive; the method de classique and the gin are brands we regularly drink. The service is impeccable and one can easily attribute this to the fact that the Camp hosts 20 guests max...but this would be a lazy observation and deny the attentive, personal and yet unobtrusive service we received from arrival, on the game drives to the ever attentive waitrons. The service simply stated is STANDOUT! I will be leaving here feted and pampered.and as weighty as the African...

When we arrived, the reception was very friendly. We had the most fantastic breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for 3 days. The kitchen did everything in its power to satisfy the group's needs from vegetarian to garlic intolerance. On the game drives, we had all of the experiences from looking at the smallest of animals to the largest, we saw rhino, giraffes, buffalo, hippo, lion, hyena, chameleon, lots of different spiders, 102 different birds, genet, honey badgers, elephants, porcupine, warthogs, impala, wildebeest, bushbucks, duiker, steenbuck, zebra, dung beetles, bushbaby, leopard, we had 4X4 driving, sunset drinks and sunrise brofees with dip ‘n Oma. All that I can say is that all the staff were absolutely great. From Claire, Chantelle, and Langu, who took us through the rules, took our temperatures, sorted out all of the admin be it at arrival and after leaving, getting equipment that we had forgotten behind to us, in the most patient and pleasant way Hancho our guide who has an incredible knowledge of the bush from the birds to the mammals and the insects. Vusi our assistant guide had the plant species sorted plus the tracking. Chris who took us on a game walk we had a great time and learned a lot from The Ladies in the kitchen were fantastic, Vasti and Rose, supplied us with the best meals out and made sure that everybody from the vegetarians to the garlic intolerant people was accommodated. The food was cooked to perfection, the presentation was beautiful and the flavours delicious. The barmen, waiters, Ben, Rassie, Hancho, Chris, Langu, and Kaletso made sure that we were never dry and that everything ran smoothly during meals. Thank you all for making our three days with you absolutely fantastic Looking forward to...

From the moment we arrived at Kapama Private Game Reserve, we knew we were in for something special — but nothing could have prepared us for just how incredible our stay would be.||||The safari experience was beyond anything we imagined. We were lucky enough to witness the Big Five and so much more, thanks to our knowledgeable and passionate ranger and tracker, who made each game drive both thrilling and educational. Every outing offered something new — breathtaking landscapes, close-up encounters with wildlife, and the magic of the African bush.||||The accommodations were lovely and perfectly blended with the natural surroundings, providing a peaceful and stylish retreat after exciting days in the wild.||||The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for — warm, attentive, and always with a smile. Their hospitality truly made our experience memorable.||||And let’s not forget the food — every meal was a treat! From gourmet dinners under the stars, scrumptious lunches to delicious breakfasts with a view, the quality and variety were exceptional.||||We left Kapama with full hearts, incredible memories, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of South Africa. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we’re already dreaming about coming back.||||if you're looking for an unforgettable safari with outstanding service,...
