Mira and Jochen have built something really special. They are so kind and thoughtful, passionate about wildlife and actively trying to promote responsible and ethical tourism, which I really appreciated. They’ve thought of everything in amazing detail, from the mosquito net in the bedroom, to the kitchen utensils, to the coffee station in the lodge. Breakfast was delicious and we had it with a view of the mountains. We could see the milky way at night from our lodge, and could hear the sound of animals in the distance, and there’s this deep quiet that’s hard to describe. Plus the outdoor shower and private pool felt like such a luxury. The lodges are very close to Kruger park, Manyaleti and Timbavati reserves and some of the most breathtaking natural wonders I have ever seen along the panorama route. Amazing.

“Serene” is the best way to describe this place. From the moment you drive in it feels like you’re in a different country. The place is well kept up and clean, the linen is of great quality, the kitchen has all the equipment needed and the bathrooms are clean and have enough towels. The showers are to die for especially the outside shower. The cottages have so much privacy and are spacious. If you need to reset and enjoy waking up to the sound of the birds, watching the beautiful sunrise and sunset then this is the perfect place to go to.

Absolutely perfect. Excellent location in terms of amenities, restaurants, exciting excursions and being able to go into Kruger on game drives. Jochan and Mira were wonderful hosts who made us feel so welcome and at home. The luxury provided was unexpected for the value for money. I cannot say enough to praise the place. A little Gem in Hoedspruit and a must stay if you are in the area.

For the price that you pay this isn't the best accommodation there is. The views are good but not great and the pictures are a bit deceiving. Unfortunately we had turbulent weather when we arrived, there is no proper paving and just sand and a few stones closer to the entrance of the room, we had to walk in mud and the car port just had wooden trellis on the top in which water can come in and makes it even worse in the rain! On the inside it looks very much like a cold Johannesburg CBD apartment with a lot of cheap cement finishes on the floors, walls and even the kitchen counters. There are not enough soft furnishings like maybe just a rug in the lounge to make it a little more comfortable especially because 95% is made of cement! The fridge was very poor and resulted in some of our food going off. The braai area is covered partially by trellis again with a canvas covering which has holes in so water just seeps in making it impossible to sit under or braai. The outside light by the braai area does not work at all so we had to use a led light. The pool is so small it is not much bigger than a bathtub. The place does not have any clear signs visible from the road and makes it difficult to see the turnoff. The most unbelievable on the day of our checkout was that we were 5 minutes over checkout time as the weather was impossible for us to pack our car because of the rain and with no cover at the carport and the muddy area outside. We received a message from the host saying that checkout time is at 10am. Given the weather conditions I think we were earlier than most people would have been, please be a bit mindful of other factors so that you have a grace of at least 15 minutes before you try and make your guests feel as if they owe you something. Overall not worth the money, these hosts carry on like they are doing you a favour. There are plenty of places that give you the proper kruger experience that you are looking for, don't settle for less!

After the owner/manager or caretakers response:

To the public out there as you can see by the response received there is no sense of accountability or negative criticism they can accept. All you have is them being defensive and really shallow. It is clear that my review sparked a lot of emotion and I wonder why? You know how people who tell lies have an answer for everything, here is your proof. Thank you for proving my point and showing the public how their experience may be should they have any suggestions or complaints. Nobody! Not even you Kruger Cliffs are perfect, the reality is that with challenges you are able to do better and grow but we can see you are too proud for that. Reviews are for warning people about experiences so they do not make the same mistake. Take it on the chin and stop with your denial, you are making this even more of a joke. So sorry to hear about your devastating realization of reality in...

Kruger cliffs was a perfect place for us to extend our time in the Kruger area. The rates were affordable and offered great value.. The self catering unit was incredibly spacious and light. The kitchen had everything we needed to make all our meals. Our bedroom had a comfortable king size bed with aircon that allowed for just the right temperature while sleeping. Excellent water pressure in the shower and plenty of hot water. We thoroughly enjoyed the views of the mountains and loved that we got to watch animals graze in the bush just beyond our lanai. We even saw monkeys in the trees...at a safe distance. It was a convenient location to reach the south entrance to Kruger park. They helped organize game drives at the reserve bordering Kruger as well as the river boat cruise at Blyde Canyon. Jochen was a wealth of knowledge about local hiking and other activities available to fill the day. But be sure to leave time to soak up the sun on the lanai, while enjoying the sounds on nature and taking a dip in the refreshing plunge pool. We loved it....

We were the first guests to stay at Kruger Cliffs as it had just opened. Privacy is key at the lodge. It is build in such a way that while you are relaxing you won't be bothered by the staff or other guests. The rooms are very spacious, have a kitchen with dining area, a sofa, a separate bedroom and separate bathroom with both an indoor and outdoor shower. Now normally the lodge caters to self drivers, but because we are Belgian, just like the owner, he provided us with a couple of extras. Both the owner and his wife are official FGASA guides. So, he took us on a drive to Kruger, the panoramic route, visited Moholoholo, a boat ride on the Blye Rivier and visited Jessica the Hippo with us over the course of our stay. Breakfast and dinner were also included for us, but the idea is that self drivers take care of that themselves. So, I you want privacy and a spacious room, then Kruger Cliffs will not disappoint you! If you are self driving and new to the area, then make sure to pick the owners brain about the local wildlife and best...
