Kuname Safari Lodge — Hotel in Maruleng Local Municipality

We stayed at Kuname Lodge for 7 nights which was breathtakingly beautiful. The Lodge is in the heart of the bush surrounded by birds, lizards, monkeys and the gorgeous Nyala that frequent the grounds. If you're lucky, at night you can watch the bats swoop under the roofs and hear the occasional bark of a Nyala or scream of a monkey!||For your game drives you have a Guide and Tracker who are incredibly knowledgable and lovely to spend time with. We were lucky enough to see the Big 5 and the Ugly 5 as well as hundreds of birds and exciting sightings of lesser seen animals like Jackals and a Honey Badger!||The main dining area of Kuname overlooks a gorgeous landscape and river (although dried when we visited this meant we could watch various animals - even a leopard! - cross the area). There are many areas to relax between game-drives, including a pool, sofa areas and sun loungers overlooking the river.||Each room is a little lodge to itself with an outdoor shower and bath which overlook the bush on your secluded private balcony. The rooms are kept clean and replenished twice daily, meaning that when you come back from your morning game drive the curtains are open and mosquito nets are pulled back making the room feel fresh and then after your afternoon game drive you come back to curtains drawn and nets down, ready for the night.||The food was divine! For breakfast, lunch and dinner you were treated to an excellent variety of foods ranging from traditional South African dishes to classics with a twist. The four course meals were prepared and presented beautifully, there were various options to choose from which changed each day.||The staff at Kuname made sure that even outside of our game-drives, we had a wonderful time! Everyone we met was so accommodating and lovely we couldn't have asked for a better stay.||I would 100% recommend...

What an unforgettable experience!||From the minute we arrived, Glenn, Hartus and the lodge staff were amazing. They went above and beyond to make the holiday an experience, nothing was too much trouble.||Our room was lovely and had a great view of the river from our balcony, the outdoor shower was a nice bonus.||Chef Okkie’s food was outstanding – every meal was absolutely delicious. One of the highlights was the Boma (BBQ) where we enjoyed a meal by a fire pit. The food definitely exceeded our expectations.||The highlight of the trip were the game drives. Our guide Mandla and tracker Collen was phenomenal and ensured we saw everything. We saw the big five by the third game drive! Their knowledge and passion were evident and went out of their way to make sure everyone had an amazing experience. Mandla and Collen truly made the game drives special, and it would not have been the same without them.||In addition to the game drives, we did a day trip to Kruger Park and the Panorama drive. We highly recommend the panorama drive, some of the scenery was breathtaking. Other highlights included a complimentary massage, a last-minute gin tasting session organised by Hartus and an anti-poaching talk.||The little touches were amazing which included giving us packed lunches for our day trips, surprised us with a birthday cake along with a traditional song and dance (which was very much appreciated), ensured we had a great view of the blood moon, hot towels after each game drive and Hartus even did an impromptu quiz. Our safari at Kuname far exceeded our (already high!) expectations. We loved the small, intimate lodge and the high level of service that came with that! The game drives were amazing. We really enjoyed our time with our guide and tracker, Gilbert and Johnson. They were knowledge and made sure every game drive was action packed and informative! The food was all delicious!
