This was our first safari ever. And it was absolutely far beyond what we expected.
We felt very welcome and home. Because there is a limited amount of guests it feels really exclusive and private. During our 3 day stay we were staying in camp with 5 other guests.
The quality of Hospitality and food is really high.
To reach the kwa-Mbili game lodge you really need to go deep into the wild (drivable for normal cars). This brought us already closer to the nature.
We parked the car and received a warm welcome. After an introduction to the safety and camp rules we were guided to our bush tent (luxury and good protected against weather, insects and larger animals)
The tent is build in two compartments ( but weather tight connected) a bedroom and bathroom compartment. The bathroom looks really new and luxury and is really spacious. (The outdoor bathroom pictures on google are old. So no more insects and snakes inside the bathroom) The tent is also equipped with a modern airconditioning/heater.
The luxury of the tent does not take away the outdoor/wilderness experience. Cause especially during the night all sounds of nature will be hearable.
Our first game drive was a amazing experience. It was just us, 2 rangers and the other guests in the open safari-jeep. During our 4 game drives we never seen a other car or group/game drive. This gave us a very exclusive experience. The rangers were real experts and had so much passion for the wildlife and plants.
The 3+ hour morning and afternoon (starts before sunset and ends after sunset) game drives are both unique in there own way. Both incl. a stop for a drink and snack. Right in the middle of the wilderness. I have never felt unsafe during these moments.
The rangers (tracker and driver) ( and all other staff) are also living inside the camp what really creates a bond during your stay.
In between the game drives you can enjoy the swimming pool with a view into the wild, a covered look out post, some drinks at the bar, chilling at the open or private lounge area's.
Around 14:00 all guest will meet at the breakfast area for lunch.
I will definitely recommend to stay st the Kwa-mbili game lodge! And i'm sure I will come here again.
And of course we did see the big 5, and...
Read moreI wish we could have stayed longer! We stayed for two nights and until now the best of the whole trip! Jesse, one of the staff members was so lovely welcoming us. We missed the afternoon game drive because of a flat tyre but we were lucky enough to see many elephants in front of our tent and at the waterhole when we arrived. Like I said, the staff is excellent, so helpful and the food was the best! Even with my gluten intolerance they served the best! They even made me a home made gluten free bread, I was so happy as it was delicious! Gheti (hope I am writing her name correctly) was also so lovely serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. She made us feel very welcome. The tents are perfect, everything was clean and I think, especially the bathroom, it’s next level for glamping! In the night we heard hyenas and even lions! ||And I haven’t even started about the game drives… we saw so many animals! Even a leopard and wild dogs, which are not easy to find! Neil, the driver and ranger and ofcourse Roel, sitting at the front of the car, were such great guides. They found us so many beautiful sightings to see. And it was so much fun sitting in an open vehicle, the animals came so close which was quite the kick especially with the lions! Make sure to take clothes for all weather as it can get cold very quickly! ||All in all we had such a lovely stay, sad to leave so soon. Make sure to book more than 2 or 3 nights so you can enjoy it to the fullest! Thank you guys so much, we had a...
Read moreThank you all at Kwa-Mbili for the 5 star service, the attention to detail and providing us with an incredible African bush experience.
Was amazing to be so close to nature and getting to see the Big 5 plus many more beautiful birds and animals - we felt so blessed and lucky! Our guides Andi and Tsepho were excellent trackers and were able to take us to see leopard and even a massive python in a tree. These two young men are extremely passionate about their work and truly love what they do. We were so impressed by their extensive knowledge on not only the animals and birds but also the flora and fauna around us.
The ladies in the camp spoilt us with delicious meals and dinners and we enjoyed a romantic anniversary dinner on the viewing deck with hyenas and porcupines below us to keep us company while we dined.. On our last night we enjoyed a "lekker braai" (awesome traditional South African BBQ) in the boma. A must do if you've never experienced this.
The tented accommodation was delightful, neat and clean and beautifully decorated with antique furniture and carpets. We enjoyed our semi-outdoor morning showers with a wild array of birdlife chirping overhead.
This is a true immersion into the bush where buck and birds, and even the odd hyena or leopard roam close to your doorstep. What an experience!
I highly recommend Kwa-Mbili to any nature lover wanting to experience the African Bush at its most natural, wild and beautiful!
A truly magical and...
