Little Africa was amazing. The hosts were friendly and accommodating, we always received service with a smile. The lodge itself is thoughtfully laid out, able to accommodate wheelchair users and perfect for the elderly (no steps, walk in shower and rooms not to far away from the main lodge area). The food was superb, I honestly cannot fault a single thing the chef abd her team made us. We were fed really well and definitely ate way too much. We were asked of any dietary requirements when we booked as well as again upon arrival.
Breakfast is a continental with delicious variety of cheeses, cold meats and home made breads. Followed by a warm breakfast (each day you can order an English breakfast or the breakfast special which changes daily).
Lunch there was a main course and a dessert. We had delicious fish and chips on our first day, followed by rump and roast veggies on our second. On our last day we had a pork kebab with handcut chips and a delicious salad followed by amaruoa panacotta.
Dinner: a three course meal each evening which was superb. Night 1: butternut soup followed by balsamic glazed sirloin and finished off with home made malva pudding and custard. Night 2: a braai done in the boma area with plenty of delicious salads, a venison stew (most delicious I have ever had) , pap and shebo, rice and then 3 different braai meats ( chicken, lamb chops, beef sausages). Desert was a delicious coffee chocolate cake. Night 3: lentil soup and a mango and biltong salad followed by a rack of lamb and finished with a lemon and coconut cake.
The drinks were really well priced (which is often not the case at game lodges) their house wine brand a good south African favorite (Alvin's drift). We were never charged for tea or coffee and we drank a lot of it,
Now onto my favorite part of our experience at Little Africa. The game drives was unlike anything we have had before. We have frequented a fair amount of lodges in South Africa in various provinces. What made it so special was that we had a game ranger (Thomas) and a tracker (Cazwell) they were a dynamic duo and you could truly see they had a passion for the Bush. They would frequently stop the vehicle and track the animal footprints. I cannot count how many times over our 5 game drives Cazwell would walk into the bush following lion/leapord/rihino or elephant footprints while we carried on driving with Thomas. Only to emerge out of nowhere 20 minutes later and having found the animals he was Tracking. Thomas would then off road with the car till we were a stones throw away from the animals. I have never had so many close up experiences with the big 5.
Little Africa is superb value for money and I will be recommending it to everyone I know. I can't wiat...
Read moreWe were a group of 6 people that stayed at Little Africa Safari Lodge for 2 nights. When we arrived we were greeted by Pollen (our host) and served welcoming drinks by Shanti. The service from Pollen and his team was incredible.
The wifi at the main lodge area is good - we were able to do video zoom/teams meetings without any issues.
Our luggage was taken to the tents which are truly luxurious with a super king sized bed, bathroom and even an aircon. The tents are cleaned each morning and a turndown service is done in the evening.
The food was incredible - we had 3 meals a day together with snacks on the game drives. Breakfast was a spread of cereals, fruit, cold meat, cheese and crackers together with a choice of hot breakfast (full english, omelet, french toast). Lunch was different each day and you could choice between 2 options for main and there was dessert as well. Dinner on the first night was a 3 course meal with 2 options for each course served in the dining area. The second night we had dinner in the boma area with soup as a starter and for main there were various meat options that was cooked on the braai together with side dishes and dessert. Everything was delicious - thank you to the Chef!
There is a good variety of drinks at the lodge - we had wine, cocktails, G&T's. You can also request the drinks you want when you stop for snacks on the game drive.
The game drives were the highlight of our stay - Thomas and Caswell were amazing!! Their tracking abilities are unbelievable. We got the most incredible sightings and even saw a lion catch and kill a wildebeest. We've been to a few lodges before and sometimes you feel disappointed by the game drives - this was definitely not the case at Little Africa. Thank you guys you made our experience extra special.
I highly recommend visiting Little Africa Safari Lodge. You will not be disappointed. The memories and the experience we had at the lodge will stay with us...
Read moreI recently stayed for 3 nights at Little Africa - it was a very special experience!
The place: itself is done up with beautiful aesthetics all around including the common areas and the living tent. I especially loved the bathroom decor, the super comfy beds and all the immaculate detail visible in the decor, furnishings, choice of colors and the different tableware. The swimming pool was very nice and clean too - overall, a very charming, calm and clean vibe with a lot of areas to lounge around beyond the room.
The food: was extraordinary! We were served with a variety over 4 days including pies, wraps, quiche, diff egg preparations and desserts. The evening braai along the Bon-fire was delicious with different grills, salads and a ton of sides. Especially loved the pie, the sweet buns with butter, and the braai. I had asked for a gluten-free option and they ensured that I had options in all meals even the small snacks…very impressive!
The hospitality: is top-notch. Leandra was always around engaging with us, welcoming us after all safaris and at meal times. They were also very responsive and helpful with our questions during making booking/reservations (we booked directly and recommend the same too).
The game drives: done by our two rangers Never and Matteo were incredible! We saw all the Big 5 and many more animals in their natural habitats. Our rangers went all the way to spot the Big 5 and the drives were very interactive with a lot of stories and information about the bush and wildlife.
Highly recommend this charming stay and experience to anyone visiting Kruger! I can’t wait to be back myself...
