Get away! it's a trap! I never paid so much for such a bad staying. Do not fall into this trap, for you will surely regret it. I've traveled to more than 25 different countries and never paid so much for such a low quality place. The structure of the hotel is very precarious, WiFi internet does not work (because the router is in the owners' house), there are frequent power outages, the pool is a tank, there is no TV in the rooms, there is no fridge, the ceiling is straw (which looks romantic but does not contribute to health, especially in a place that has yellow fever, malaria and other diseases transmitted by mosquitoes), the air conditioning is insufficient to meet the two rooms of the chalet. The place is also isolated, and 4g/3g doesn’t work. In one of the days there were feces in the grass near the dining room. There are places with standing water, a probable focus for mosquito breeding. The pillows are bad and old, the bar area and entertainment is abandoned. The ice machine doesn’t work, you can not order or prepare your own drink, because there is no sugar, limes or other ingredients available at the place. There is a bookcase with old books, a hidden tv, and a darts target hanging in a random, poorly maintained location. The balcony floor is covered with tarp due to infiltration, and the furniture is in poor condition and dirty. Regarding the services, the transfer is charged for the price they want, and if you do not have a car you are held hostage by the abusive prices they charge (usd 60 for transportation to the airport and USD 100 for a half hour trip to the city). They lie on the rides (“game drive”), saying that you have to book in advance, and if you need to cancel then they say they can not. The manager is biased, drives irresponsibly and made us wait at a local fair, while chatting and smoking with hotel owners who "coincidentally" were in a restaurant in the same place. On meals, guests are required to eat at certain times and there is no possibility of choosing the menu. In one of the lunches we were served noodles with canned sauce. In the other they served wrap of leftover rice with raw vegetables, a piece of cheese and grapes. They charged 2200 Rands (usd 170) per person for a day in Kruger with breakfast and breakfast included, considering that breakfast and lunch were already included in our diary. From lunch they sent a rice with salad that looked more like rest of food. They act as if we were staying at their home and don’t have a professional attitude. They need to improve a lot to be able to charge a daily of USD 350 plus usd 40 for conservation fee. I think that they find it very romantic to be in the middle of the forest, but even though it is possible to have a quality service. I'm not stupid and I do not think it's wonderful to fall into such a trap, in which you pay too much for a poor quality "experience" in the middle of the forest. You can pay the same or less for a much...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of spending three days at Zazu (Masodini Lodge), and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The setting is absolutely stunning — a true immersion in nature, peaceful and beautifully maintained, with every detail carefully thought out to ensure comfort and serenity.
The safaris were perfect — exciting, well organized, and conducted with genuine respect for the animals and their environment. Each outing was a magical experience!
Liam and Stéphanie, the young owners, are truly exceptional. Their passion, kindness, and dedication shine through in every aspect of the lodge. You can feel how much heart and energy they pour into this project, and it makes all the difference. Their warm welcome and constant availability make the stay even more special.
We were traveling with our three children, including a baby of 18 months, and the whole team went above and beyond to adapt to his needs as well as those of our 6- and 10-year-olds. Their thoughtfulness and flexibility made our family stay incredibly easy and enjoyable — something we deeply appreciated.
The entire team is fantastic — friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. You immediately feel at home while enjoying a unique and authentic experience.
A huge congratulations to the whole Zazu / Masodini team for the amazing work you’re doing! Keep going — you’re offering something truly exceptional that will stay in our memories for a long time.
Promis nous allons travailler notre anglais pour que nous puissions mieux nous comprendre lors de notre prochain voyage chez vous...
Read morewe stayed at Masodini in April 2025, for a multi-generational family holiday.. and we could not have had a better time. Stephanie, Liam, the guides, the kitchen staff, and the entire team really went the extra mile for us. ||||It's one of the few lodges that takes small children, and the pool was a real winner for the kids to cool off. When they weren't making too much noise, the nearby watering hole was visited by giraffes and elephants. ||||The game drives were the real highlight, Leanne, Courage and the other guides were just brilliant in tracking the wildlife, and we saw pretty much everything... including a number of leopards. ||||The food was great, in huge portions - and the barista coffee machine made for a nice little luxury touch. ||||The lodges were spacious, cool, comfortable and clean, with the outdoor shower a nice touch, as well as the private patio looking out to the bush. ||||The staff even took the time to play some board games with the kids whilst us adults grabbed a cheeky drink at the bar before dinner..||||The warmth and hospitality from the entire team was genuine and it made for a special...
