My partner and I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful lodge. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed with smiles, drinks and refreshing towels. We were promptly assisted with luggage and thoroughly provided with all the amenities and the rules. Moditlo River Lodge exceeded all my expectations and provided an unforgettable safari experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by warm and friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The lodge itself is nestled in a picturesque location Hoespruit, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness.
The accommodations were luxurious and comfortable, with well-appointed rooms that blended seamlessly with the natural environment. The attention to detail in the design and furnishings created a serene and relaxing atmosphere. I particularly loved the private deck where I could unwind and enjoy the stunning African sunset.
The safari activities at Moditlo were exceptional!!! The knowledgeable and passionate guides took us on thrilling game drives, where we had close encounters with Africa's magnificent wildlife. We spotted elephants, lions, rhinos, giraffes, elephants, wildebeest, cheetahs, squirrels, loads on antelope and an abundance of bird species. The guides' expertise and their ability to share interesting facts about the animals and the ecosystem added tremendous value to the experience.
The dining at Moditlo River Lodge was a culinary delight. The meals showcased a variety of delicious local and international dishes, prepared with fresh and high-quality ingredients. The attentive staff catered to dietary preferences and ensured that every meal was a delightful gastronomic journey.

I stayed at Moditlo for three nights in January 2025, and I highly recommend it—100%!
From the moment we arrived, the experience was incredible. Jika picked us up at the airport, and in just a 20-minute transfer to the lodge, we spotted giraffes, zebras, elephants, and monkeys. That was just a glimpse of what was to come!
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by William, a very kind staff member who, despite being new, did an exceptional job explaining every detail about the lodge, the safaris, and the dining experience. We were greeted with refreshing welcome drinks and cold towels, which was a lovely touch.
The service was impeccable. Our luggage was taken directly to our room, which was spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped with air conditioning and hot water. Housekeeping was excellent, with the room cleaned twice a day.
The lodge offers two safaris daily—one at 5:30 AM, returning at 8:30 AM, and another at 4:00 PM, returning at 7:00 PM. The guides go above and beyond to ensure you see as many animals as possible, tracking footprints and listening to sounds in the wild. It’s truly a spectacular experience. During the morning safari, they offer a tea break, while in the afternoon, there’s a cocktail stop, adding a special touch to the adventure. We were lucky to have Dereck and Dumi as our guides, both of whom were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly.
The food was another highlight of our stay. The lodge has an outstanding chef who prepares top-tier meals, offering a wide variety of dishes, including fresh salads, meats, and delicious desserts. One evening, they hosted a traditional South African dinner with local cuisine and a cultural performance, which was a fantastic experience.
