Radisson Safari Hotel Hoedspruit — Hotel in Maruleng Local Municipality

Excellent stay at Radisson Safari Hotel Hoedspruit. This stay was part of a package deal and included breakfast and dinner buffets.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The bar drinks were reasonably priced. The decor was modern and immaculate.

The rooms were beautifully presented, I loved the Hoopoe Bird wallpaper, armchair and verandah with chairs. The garden landscaping was immaculate.

The dinner buffet was top shelf. Great assortment, so was breakfast. We appreciated the 'to go' breakfast boxes they prepared for us early on our safari day.

Only recommendation is to label the food at the buffet. Im eating vegetarian and accidentally ate a crab croquette that i thought was an arancini ball and a pastry that ended up having bacon in it. Its helpful also for people with allergies (nut, gluten free etc). Also the in-room hairdryer was impossible to find. It was in an unlabelled drawer that looked like a closed part of the cupboard. Please label this!

The hotel is about 1 hour drive to the nearest entry to Kruger National Park.

Unfortunately I was put in a room that had an adjoining door. I locked this on entry as I could get into the room next to me. This however made the room not soundproof at all. I was unlucky to have an obnoxious american couple next door who insisted on speaking at 130 decibels for all conversations, spoke rudely to hotel staff on the phone and after hanging up proceeded to say the most racist things that don't warrant any repeating. Currently making a bad review while staying at the place. Can you imagine????

My husband and I decided to come here for our wedding anniversary and the place is beautiful BUT

On arrival to our hotel room, there was trash directly across our door. We ignored it assuming that okay, maybe there’s a cleaner on the floor. But no, we come back from dinner, plates and more trash are still across our door.

Then we wake up the next morning and guess what? We are greeted by more trash when we opened the door. It is our third night now and we experienced the same issue even after addressing this with the staff.

Yesterday we came back after a long safari and our room was not cleaned. We assumed ok let’s go to the bar, and maybe it will be cleaned. But guess what? At 5pm our room was still not yet touched.

Then again, today after being gone the whole day, our room was still not cleaned! Can you imagine the frustration of leaving for a long time and coming back to an unserviced room while paying sooo much to stay here?

I again addressed this with reception and The lady on the phone was empathetic and said “we will make it up to you” given that it was my anniversary. Guess what ? We arrived back to the hotel around 17:30pm and still, trash by our door.

And they did not make nothing up!!! We again had to address this with reception and they made excuses about who is responsible and so forth.

This made our stay here unpleasant and not worth the drive. It’s so far here and so hot! So imagine dealing with subpar service on top of...

During our recent stay at the Radisson Blu in Hoedspruit, we had a mixed experience that was completely turned around by the exceptional service we received from Portia.

Upon arrival, our check-in process was far from smooth, leaving us quite disappointed. However, after returning from a tour and heading to dinner, we were greeted by Portia, whose warm and radiant smile instantly uplifted our spirits. From the very beginning, she made us feel welcome and valued.

Throughout the evening, Portia demonstrated an impressive level of professionalism, expertise, and kindness. Her attention to detail was remarkable, and she went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was memorable. She thoughtfully explained the entire wine menu and recommended a fantastic pairing for our meal, showcasing not only her knowledge but also her genuine passion for her work.

It’s rare to encounter such an experienced and attentive waitress, especially in this region, and Portia stood out in the best way possible. Her dedication and natural charm transformed what could have been an average evening into an outstanding one.

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Portia for making our stay so much better. Her hard work, expertise, and positive attitude deserve recognition, and we sincerely hope to see her grow further in her career—she truly has the potential to excel.
