I came here as part of a group tour. To be fair, I think everyone else in the group would probably have rated this accommodation much more highly than I have, but this review reflects my personal experience.||Firstly, some good points:|- The accommodation is in little thatched huts, with some wildlife wandering around the estate ⌠There is no denying that coming out of your hut to see a little zebra suckling from its mum right outside is something quite special! There were also warthogs, and monkeys/baboons roaming around. |- The meals were very satisfactory â Breakfast consisted of a reasonable selection of hot and cold buffet items. The dinners (served outside, buffet-style, one in the âBomaâ area) included some African specialties, and were good in quality and quantity. I only had one lunch here â a toasted sandwich, selected from quite a good choice of menu items â which was tasty and nicely presented.|- Staff were pleasant and helpful.||My lower rating reflects a few issues:|- Firstly, the accommodation initially allocated had a bathroom that generally looked in quite poor condition, and the toilet was not only in poor condition (heavily stained) but also dirty. After complaining straight away, some staff came to look at it, and a move was arranged to another accommodation unit that was in better condition. The sheets in the second unit were stained, but these were changed on request the next morning. To be fair, I donât think anyone else in our group had similar problems; and the management took trouble to apologise and put things right.|- Secondly, there was a lot of noise (music, a loudspeaker, and yelling) which went on well into the early hours one night. Apparently this was coming from a nearby community venue outside the estate, so presumably there is nothing that the safari lodge can do about it. |- A more minor issue is that there was no âproperâ coffee available during the day. There was some nice filter coffee in the restaurant at breakfast, but none available at the bar during the day and evening. They do not seem to have a coffee machine. (You can make tea and coffee yourself in the restaurant at any time of day, but it is only...

Read moreWe were looking for a place to stay at the last minute due to another place that we were not satisfied with
My wife called and spoke to Patience (Receptionist) from the time of the call and to our arrival that evening we were already happy with what he heard from patience with availability and being hands on immediately when we arrived
Patience welcomed us and was incredibly friendly, she showed us the bar area, dining area and then our room
We then went and had a drink at the bar after we settled into our room and freshened up
Alain (Barman) was very friendly and helpful always making sure our drinks were ok and if we needed anything else
Lovely sized bar with pool table and an outside swimming pool
We ate outside the dining area and met Shaun (Chef) very friendly as well and advised the food my wife was going to eat was all ok due to her having some allergies, the food on both nights was absolutely incredible and the second night being boma night where Shaun braai'd an incredible meal once again
The rooms are perfect specially if it's just needed to stay over a night or more
During the night you will hear lions or hyenas calling from your room as Timbavati Safari Lodge boarders Thornybush private game park
It's also very convenient if you are heading to the Orpen gate Kruger National Park from Timbavati Safari Lodge as it's roughly about 15km to 20km away.
We will definitely recommend this lodge and we will be back again indeed
If you looking also at a safe place to stay then this is the place, security guards on site and perimeter fence is a full sized electric fence
Thank you to all the staff for making our stay a...
