Recently did some business in Vredendal. ||My colleague and I landed up at the Klawer Hotel at R1300.00 per night. ||When checking in, we were greeted by super friendly service from Marius and front desk lady. ||I was then shown to the room I would be staying in. ||This is where it gets rocky. ||Beds are so old that as a bit of a heavier man, I literally sunk right through it, bed was super un-stable and probably as old as the Hotel (Heritage Site apparently), TV was mounted on top of the cupboard so made it impossible to watch when actually lying in bed and they literally have SABC 1,2,3. ||Bathrooms are super outdated, and shower didn’t even have a working shower nozzle. ||||The hotel itself is not very well maintained. Most of the bedroom doors are not even finished, it's like they bought the cheapest doors and literally just stuck them up. Walls are not plastered and all raw building blocks that seems to have been painted a very long time ago and, in my opinion, looks and feels like a correctional facility. ||||When they cleaned the room the next day, the hotel accommodation area literally smelled like a bathroom that had been thrown full of Jik, mopped and left to dry. So much so that I could not stay in my room, I was forced to go work in the restaurant.||||When telling the lady at the front that I was not happy, she explained that she couldn’t assist as they were fully booked and regarding their cancellation policy this is completely un-reasonable, so even though I left after the 1st night I was told there are no refunds. So essentially, I paid for 2 nights, left after night 1 to find a far better place for cheaper in Vanrhynsdorp. R900 per night at Red Ox.||||The restaurant itself is not bad, food was good and the service again, was great. Breakfast was disappointing for the amount you pay to stay there. ||What was also a little weird was that the owner stays on the property with his Great Danes, which from his reaction when I asked if I could go outside, was that the dogs could be ‘funny’ around people. ||All in all, I am pretty sure by my review you know I won't ever be staying...
Read moreKlawer Hotel was one of our favorite stays during our trip through Namaqualand.
The Hotel was safe, the rooms were spacious and the restaurant was fantastic.
We had dinner and breakfast at the establishment and really enjoyed the Boerie pizza for it's unique flavour combination and tasty onion rings. The hotel also had a pizza oven, which is always a bonus.
We had an opportunity to sample Klawer's own wine and it was bold and flavourful.
The staff was very friendly and willing to go the extra mile to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
There are a few remarks we would like to make in regards to our room that could use some improvement. Our television did not work, our room (18) had an off smell when we entered and the bathmats leave a lot to be desired, with water covering most of the floor.
Besides this however, our stay was wonderful and we would be keen to visit again when we come see the...
Read moreI was a bit skeptical about staying at Klawer Hotel at first, given its old appearance, especially the restaurant. But boy, was I pleasantly surprised! The food at the restaurant was amazing, and the hotel room was super comfortable for me and my family. The bathroom was spotless, with hot water and everything we needed. The staff stood out for being incredibly friendly and attentive, always checking in to ensure we had everything we needed. Marius specifically was so so so friendly, always making sure we had everything we needed and were comfortable our entire stay at the hotel. Despite initial doubts, we had a fantastic stay with no issues. If I could, I'd give more than 5 stars – it's genuinely a comfortable and lovely hotel....
