Morning Traveling Friends,||Today I want to share with you our wonderful family Midweek visit to Falkon Glen from 16 - 20 June 2025. This was a real treat.||Two days before our arrival I phoned the resort just to confirm our booking. Heila answered and were very friendly and professional over the phone.||We arrived on Monday afternoon at 15h00 to check in. Heila and Jacques was very friendly and welcoming. Their kindness was natural and sincere. We had a nice chat. They felt like family. Heila is very professional and I could see that she cares a lot about her guests. She is a real jewel and assist for this resort. We were welcomed with delicious Sherry and Popcorn. Everything was in place when we checked in.||We stayed in unit 9, which is a 3-bedroom 8 sleeper unit with 3 bathrooms. Two bedrooms are on the ground and then there is a loft bedroom as well. Unfortunately, all the bathrooms are on the ground floor. Two bathrooms are ensuite. The unit was nice and spacious. Kitchen was good. The stove use gas. Big fridge with freezer. Our unit was cleaned daily during our stay. All the staff that we met were very friendly and greeted you when they see you on the resort.||Falkon Glen is really a jewel in Mpumalanga only around 300 km from Pretoria. Seeing that it is such a small resort with only 15 units, this resort is very quiet and peaceful. It is also very safe. It has a full electrical fence around the whole resort. There are many Bunnies that stay on the resort, and they are so cute. This resort is well known for its therapeutic mineral hot spring. There are 2 swimming pools that feeds from this spring. The smaller one is warmer than the bigger one. We visited in the winter month of June, so this warm pool was a real treat to fight against the coolness. This small pool is wonderful for a romantic evening swim. The steam comes out the water during the evening and it looks like mist, while you are enjoying the warm water. During the day the weather was very nice. Just in the early mornings and evenings it tends to get a bit chilly. But do not be afraid that you will sleep cold. The beds have goose dawn feather duvets that is so nice and warm. You do not even feel the coldness when sleeping under them.||There are Putt Putt available at the resort. There are also 2 safe walking trails that can be enjoyed. A River route and an mountain route. More about the river walk later.||On Tuesday morning we had a Meet and Greet with the Resort staff. We were welcomed with 2 delicious homemade soups, that Heila made. It was a Biltong and a Pea Soup that was served with homemade Vetkoek and toast. Sherry was also served to fight the cool air of the morning. The guests could chat with the staff.||But the moment that touched me most was on Wednesday — my daughter’s 26th birthday. I hadn’t expected anything. But Heila and the team had arranged a surprise: singing, a birthday sash, a card, and a slab of chocolate. Her face lit up — that moment meant the world to her, and to us. She felt like a Queen. It was the first time any resort has done something so personal, so sincere. That sound of singing drifting through the trees… I’ll carry that with me always.||That evening we braaied under the stars — the air was crisp, the coals warm, and laughter echoed between our bites.||Please just remember to bring only charcoal for your braai. No wood fires are allowed at the resort. There is no fireplace in the units as a safety precaution.||On Wednesday morning we went on a guided river walk with Jacques. This 2,5-hour walk was highly informative and Jacques shared a lot of info about the wildlife, the river, the trees and the beauty of nature. It is an easy walking path. It was really a unique experience to get to know more about the natural beauty with the help of an informative guide. I could see that Jacques enjoys his work and the interaction with the guests. There is a beautiful Picnic spot on the trail, where the river cascades beautifully. You are allowed to swim in that swimming hole at the picnic spot. Just be careful of the slippery rocks in the river. The river run strongly and it is fresh water coming from a fountain about 9 km away from the resort at a farm.||Our Midweek past to fast and sadly it was time again to leave this special resort. The whole family enjoyed their stay. We will be returning soon again to enjoy the splendour of this resort.||Currently there are road works being done next to the resort. They are making the road bigger. So the units closer to the road do get noise from this road works. Unfortunately this is totally out of the hands of the resort and it is just a temporary nuisance. When the road works will be finished at least this road will then be much safer and smoother again. Maybe consider one of the units furthest from the road, like unit 9 that we had, when you do your booking. The road noise is much less at this units that are furthest from the road.||Just a word of caution. When we were packing our car on Friday, there was a spider sitting in the car handle. So just check the handles before opening the car doors, that you do not get surprized.||Please forward our sincerest thank to the staff for this very enjoyable stay at Falkon Glen.||Thank you for taking the time to...

Read moreOn arrival at reception we met by Heila, no hassles and she filled in on all the resort paper work and explained exactly where our chalet would be and how to get there and where the other amenities were and things to do. Ice cold ice tea offered was delicious. One of the things that stood out was how well maintained the gardens were and how well they were presented, so neat and tidy and a real near garden of Eden. The bird life is abundant and lovely species. ||The staff are absolutely fantastic, friendly and welcoming. Heila and Jacques and General Manager Nicholas are awesome people going the extra mile for their guests. I witnessed Nicohlas walking in darkness to the swimming pool with a torch when electricity failed due to lightning one night, and collected all the children still in the pool and accompanied them to their chalets safely. Now where would you get such commitment?|The facilities are excellent, our chalet was comfortable, clean and spacious. [The chalet/ floor smelled like it was cleaned with a putrid rotten old mop, fortunately the smell disappeared within the hour.]|Love the modern and airy feel of the rooms. The fittings are modern enough and the kitchen is VERY well equipped. The bathrooms are beautiful. The beds are comfortable, as well as the linen/duvets etc. It was nice to make a trip out to Joubert and Sons Road Stall/shop nearly daily (10km) to get really fresh juices and fruit. BEST biltong in very long time. Loved the orange chilli sauces, wow. And the variety of fresh juices in bottles. Amazing place.||The cleaner arriving around noon was unusual in our experience, by that time we have performed most housekeeping tasks expected like beds made up, dishes washed etc. Apparently they only arrive at work around 10:00 due to distance to their homes. Cleaning was excellent though. Thanks to ‘Dorkas.’||Enquired about wi-fi in chalets beforehand (fortunately) so we took our own MTN 4G router plus Vodacom dongle with, and signal was 100% strong day 1, and good speed. That was day 1… rest of week zero internet on Voda and MTN internet devices, even at reception. Only on cellular data. Had to use phone as Wi-Fi hotspot, very slow but at least had internet that way.||The main bedroom was sprayed with some overwhelming strong perfume/commercial chemical fragrance by the cleaner/s. On the curtains, floors, carpets, corners, bedding. Have smelled this at other resorts. The perfume still hovered rest of week but slowly got weaker. Unfortunately we dislike strong perfumes.||The water quality is excellent and pure, suitable and safe for drinking. The water pressure in showers are very low, doubling usual shower time.||Now the not so nice….||The traffic pollution/ noise spoiled the whole week, day and night, trucks and trucks and more trucks buzzing past in Schoemanskloof instead of using N4 highway only. This should be turned around??? Trucks are demolishing secondary roads and travelling recklessly at high speeds. I understand it is outside the management’s control. It just opened my eyes again on how polluted our roads are with trucks due to SA’s dysfunctional railroad/Government, even affecting the touring industry/ accommodation negatively. ||We were occupying unit 3, which has a very nice overall view , maybe units closer to river will be much more quiet. ||So it is with mixed emotions that we left, this lovely tranquil Eden next to a truck motorway. Wonder Adam and Eve would say about this situation…..|Think we will be back but choose another chalet...
